Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@asanabanana- i not sure whether ahis majors are also lacking in acceptances but since both majors subjects are linked with each other we can perhaps hope that is true!!!

Well its April First…I don’t want to get my hopes up because I am applying as a transfer nursing major…does anyone know one of the unicorns that made it in as a transfer?

ouch how did you F*** your grade up that bad to get put in this situation? I got a B in physics, no joke I got a 40% on my first exam, but I made sure and got a tutor and put in maybe 3x more hours into practice/homework. With my learning style physics was all about just putting the time in and doing a problem like 10x until your could do it with your eyes close (literally).

Hint: isolating the question is key, don’t be distracted by the nonsense of how its written, memorize ALL the equations, and remember to convert your units and your good to go.

@RichardEmt34 Unfortunately I don’t know any unicorns personally :frowning:

I say unicorns because UCI nursing only accepts about 20 transfers…

Hi @BackNSchool83, today (April 1st) is the day UCI starts letting people know if transfer students got accepted. Do they actually say “you were not accepted” or how does this all work?

@grinchmeup Unicorns are known for their healing powers…

@yourHIGHne55 I found out 2 weeks ago about my acceptance but I don’t know if it’s because it was sent out in batches, depending on location, or based on regent admissions. Feel free to call admissions to verify how a rejection would be sent out- but again, it might depend on your location or whatever system of batches they are using.

From what I have read your portal should change to a sort of “congratulations!!!” type banner. Rejections and wait list notifications were at the very end of the notifications for last fall, but then again some people were getting admitted at the very end as well. You can go back a few pages and see the complete list of dates notified and stats for fall 15, but it might be different this year, you never know. Last year they only advised regents or those with honors to honors or tag in the first few days for the most part, the majority of acceptance notifications occurred later in the month in batches.

Guys, I need help. I go to a school on the quarter system and my classes have changed slightly for Spring Quarter. I can no longer edit the Transfer Academic Update cause apparently it ended yesterday. This may make a difference for me so what do I do. I changed one of my classes and have a waitlisted class which I won’t find out if I get in until next week. Also I have a backup class that I will sign up for in case I don’t get into the one I waitlisted. Is there an email or should I call? I don’t want to be on hold forever, I want to let them know ASAP.

troubledcollegestudent Is that an assist class? and if so what grade do you have to get in order to get in to UCI? My son is in a class at the moment that he had to take or no transfer…where he needs to get a “B” in or all bets are off no matter his GPA…it is a Programming class that is hard to get into because there is only one CC that has it in a 2 hr drive radius…can you believe that…UGH! and as a transfer student he cant take it at UCI he has to take it here…luckily it is at the CC that he goes to…took over 2 years to get into because within 10 minutes of classes opening up on first day of registering it was filled! HOWEVER with that said…he has a different major than you…Id call the school admissions or counselors and ask if this class is a make or break deal to get in…thats what my son did when it came to the Java class…they told him yes it was a make or break…GOOD LUCK and hope you get great news this month on acceptance…after all you are TAGGED!

@chs2014 You can call and ask what to do but it is good to email schools with info like this so you have proof that you let them know about it in the future. Good luck getting that class

@grimmghost I called the UCI enrollment center and they told me they let the honor students know before other transfer students. Congrats on the acceptance!

Thanks all :)>-

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I just visited UCI and I actually prefer it over UCLA. @-)

@Cheolf !!! Wow, I had the opposite impressions but they are both beautiful. Nothing beats the amazing greenery and trees right in the middle of UCI.

Those new dorms. :x Now to wait for UCI Tag and UCLA decisions. UCR and UCSB have offered the same amount of aid so far.

I visited UCI over the summer, but never actually went on campus.

I think I’m missing their 6th quarter foreign language requirement, though. So if I went there, I’d have to take one language class per quarter, which I’d rather not do…

@goldencub Ha, the language requirement has always been something I’ve been mindful of. It would be a bit of a pain but at the same time it would be beneficial.

@yourHIGHne55 thank you-- good luck >:D<

@Cheolf I know, me too  I grew up in Irvine so I’m just holding my breath if I have the opportunity to choose between the two… Let’s just see what UCLA thinks of its applicants this year. I can’t go around cherry picking until I know that I have a shot of an acceptance at UCLA… But it’s so gorgeous I couldn’t agree more. Did you see the Social Behavioral Sciences building- so intimidating with how stoic and perfect it is… :x

I didn’t get a chance to visit UCI, what is the area like? I feel like it’s mostly suburban, which is what i’m looking for. I’ve heard people complain about how “boring” it is, but then i’ve heard really awesome things as well. I should really visit the campus (in case I get in) but I live in San Francisco and Irvine is a 10-hour drive away so lol can’t really swing by right now.
