Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@Cheolf they’ve always been pretty committed to becoming a better and better school too, which is a pretty cool atmosphere to be a part of, like when the student body chose to have their science library built instead of a football team. It blew my mind when I learned how young UCI and UCSD were.

@wtb2525 Haas is absolutely superior (or at least higher ranked). My guess is that most of the people admitted into UCI’s program also were admitted into UCLA/UCB, and chose those schools instead.

Regardless, UCI’s Business program is definitely becoming well-regarded.

@BackNSchool83 yup. just a rough estimate of how well i think my essays turned out in the end…

I logged on my portal and into UC Irvine’ s Financial Aid/Scholarship webpage and found this “Your file is complete and we are expecting to begin awarding financial aid in early May. You will receive notification from us once your award information is available.” Do they send out these award notifications to everyone, even those who will end up being rejected? Am I making to much out of this? Could this be a sign that I have been accepted? Who else has this on their “My Aid Award” section?

hahahahhah only time will tell @grinchmeup

@Panorama14 Chill out. It does that for everyone. UCI won’t send admissions until mid-april. Just focus on finishing up your last semester,

I feel anxious about admission as well, I actually called and they were able to see if a determination had been made about my application. They don’t have anything saying that you are in or not, but they can see if it was processed. I think all of us have that indication on the financial aid section, so you probably wont know till mid to late April when suddenly your portal will change to a big banner that says “You have been admitted to UC Irvine !!!” and below are links to SIR. Last year no one in the regular transfer lot received notification till the 24th. Just curious what are you stats ?

@BackNSchool83 3.69 gpa … 5/6 pre reqs done… IGETC done last fall. Literary journalism major.

I can’t wait for that day! I can’t believe it’s almost here :-SS

So I got an email today from honorsociety.org and it said this.
"Congratulations! Based on your academic achievements, you have been accepted to the HonorSociety.org member society. Accepting this distinction connects you with like-minded high achievers and alumni networks from University Of California Irvine and across the nation, both in person and through our society’s web portal.

HonorSociety.org is the preeminent organization dedicated to recognition of student success, and to empower students to achieve through scholarship, recognition, exclusive privileges, job opportunities and more."

UCI hasn’t told me whether I’m accepted or not yet because does that mean I got in? Or this is just some sort of fake thing? It wants me to pay $50 to be in it.

@CJH101 it’s a scam. It doesn’t mean you were accepted to UCI.

@CJH101 My friend received the same email, he thinks it’s fake.

@CJH101 - Don’t pay $50! Be patient…

I received those kind of e-mails when I was in high school. They even sent me actual letters and stuff… I got rejected by all 4 UC’s that I applied to.

It’s all a scam. Don’t pay the $50.

(I didn’t pay the fee either when I was in high school)

I got the same email i also believe it is fake. Usually when they ask for money its a scam.

this is what I came up with after searching, I got the same email, but from cal poly, saying congratulations and that I could be part of their honor society… I got denied from cal poly, so I am pretty sure I wouldn’t be accepted into their honor society, therefore I am calling BS and saying its a scam.

Business admin major
4.0 gpa, scholars at SMC, IGETC about to be done, and good resume, but I will be missing calc 2(requirement, pre calc is lowest necessary to apply) and even stats, btw I am doing calc now.
If I am accepted what do you think I will have to do about calc 2 and stats? Will I have to do them in a short semester at a CC in summer or do them at that school next fall?

@smctothe
"Transfer Students: Preference for admission will be given to Junior-level
applicants with the highest grades overall (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0) who
satisfactorily complete lower-division courses equivalent to the following:

  • Calculus (MATH 2A - 2B),
  • Economics (ECON 20A - 20B),
  • Statistics (MGMT 7), and
  • Accounting (MGMT 30A, 30B)

MGMT 1 may be completed at UCI.

Admission to the major will be competitive due to limited space availability."

I think missing those two classes is going to jeopardize your chance. Last year they accepted about 60 students out of about 2000 students. I believe that you need to complete your classes by Spring 2016 to be considered in your application.

I’m a IVC transfer with 3.92 (got a B in nutrition my first semester -.-) business admin applicant 4.0 GPA in the major. with Major prep completed, igetci, ton of EC, and good resume/essay. UCI isn’t my first choice though. Hoping for Haas. UCI yield rate for the 60 offered admission was about 3%

I’m applying to the same major and I’m also missing calculus 2. I fully expect to get rejected.

I was asked to submit winter grades which included some prereqs, guessing that means I’m on the admission edge?
