Official UCI Fall 2016 Transfer Thread

@xenoplanet right!

reply to abc123:
I asked the transfer counselor specifically about this, and she said no. They’ll automatically rescind the
TAG and process you without it. I applied for tag but now I’m ineligible because I got a C in Calc 2.I’m a CS major with a 3.33 gpa now. If I get rejected this year I might apply for Software Engineering to UCI instead next year and TAG with a Math BS to UCSB, because they dont tag CS transfers.

@lugi350 really? So alternate major is not part of TAG? only the major?

I’m in the same boat. Haven’t heard anything yet.

Major: Business Economics
GPA: 3.89
IGETC: Done at end of semester
Prerequisite: Done at end of semester
TAG: Yes

I’m going crazy

@abc123youandme
I’m just talking about the 3.4 GPA. I’m not sure about the alternate major.

For the people that got accepted, did you get your accepted letter by mail yet? Or does that come later, if thats the case when do you expect to get it?

@wikithepedia they let you know through your My Admissions website. You need to set up your account using your UCI ID they sent you when they notified you that they received your application. The letter come after. If you have any of the social media accounts go on there and hashtag #uciyes people have been posting their acceptances

I tagged as mechanical engineering major and I have a 3.49 after tau. All pre requisites will be done end of Spring. However, I am still pending, is it possible that my tag got rejected because I am attending a different community college then indicated for when I tagged?

@wikithepedia

I received my acceptance letter about 2 weeks after I was accepted. It came with a pretty fancy certificate!

Also, the Celebrate UCI day was pretty cool.

I got to check out the AV housing and I was really impressed! Honestly that’s what I’m excited for the most.

Unfortunately the engineering information session dragged on for almost two and a half hours, but it was still pretty informative.

Big heads up! I saw a a lot of Biomedical Engineering majors at the session. If you’re interested in going the pre-medical track, just be aware that it is NOT ABET accredited! Being ABET accredited is crucial for your engineering degree to be worth anything. If you’re looking to go straight to medical school, then that shouldn’t affect you. But if you’re looking to work in industry after your degree, then it will be a problem.

I went to Celebrate UCI too!

Met up with tons of friendly people/potential peer mentors/classmates. Lots of opportunities and the campus is gorgeous!

Anyone know what the portal does if you get rejected or wait listed ? Someone was telling me that it turns green and it says you are wait listed on the right side…

I found a google image that appears to show that in the center of the portal screen it says Admission Decision and they give you the bad news. A picture I saw of an admission granted says Congratulations You’ve been admitted to UC Irvine and below that are 3 options for SIR etc. Yeah waiting is awesome, this isn’t messing with my head or anything… gonna be a long week.

I also went to Celebrate UCI today. I loved it! I hope I meet people my age but I figured the majority of people are going to be youngins

@uciruby - I was at Celebrate UCI too… you know you’re an oldie when one of the booth people - specifically the one manning the Career Center table tells me “here are some fliers for your son or daughter…”

/facepalm

I politely inform him that I’m a non-traditional transfer student with no children. lol

@Eterion hahahaha maybe we should start a club for us non-traditional transfers :wink: :smiley:

Admitted on 4-15-2016
3.65 gpa for Biochem
Admitted with conditions aka bc I’m finishing my last ochem pre-req this current spring
How was the celebrate uci day?? anybody take pics of the campus?

so what are the new minimum GPA requirements for UCI?

2.4?
Though the website states “however, a competitive UC Irvine transfer applicant should have a UC transferable GPA of 3.0 or above.”

I mean for fall 2016? I applied last year and saw most that were accepted had a range of 3.00-3.5 without tag gpa. I still have not heard back :frowning: @Edirol
