I was accepted around a month ago, but I was an Honors to Honors student.
Also, in case anyone is lurking this thread and will be applying to UCI next semester, look into your campus honors program and see if they participate with UCI’s Honors to Honors program!
Basically, you’ll be required to complete your honors program with a 3.7 GPA or above. If you can handle that, then you’ll be guaranteed the Regents Scholarship. At our Honors to Honors session yesterday, every student in the program was given a Regents Scholarship, so definitely check it out!
Each campus participating can only nominate one student, so talk to your program adviser about it!
Also, my girlfriend is a TAP student with a 3.8 and got early acceptance in early March and put into the Campus Wide Honors Program by being in TAP’s honors to honors program. A couple days later she received Regents as well. Does anyone know if only those accepted early (March) got the Regents, or will they be giving more Regents to those accepted in April. Thanks
Question guys, if you don’t make it into your preferred major, are your chances of getting into your alternate major equally as good? My preferred is Electrical Engineering but I’ll be missing a physics course (electricity and magentism), I have a good GPA, 3.5 because of grades I got 5 years ago before I went back to school (3.8 since I came back 2 years ago all in major related courses), but I listed my alternate as Mathematics (for which I have every pre-req fulfilled), which would be a no-brainer to get in to, but wondering if my chances would be better with that and then just switch into Samueli after I finish my last physics class this summer?
I’m just going to keep refreshing THIS thread to gauge whether I need to check my portal or not.
Am I the only one that holds my breath during the pause between logging into and the admissions portal screen loading up? For some reason, despite having super fast internet, it still takes more than a few seconds (okay a little eternity!!!) to load up that portal.
@Irishrider the UCI rep who told me about the competitiveness of their business admin program told me that they don’t just look at your GPA (que rolling eyes). They look at all of these great students who have other qualities but the biggest mistake students make is to not choose an alternative major. She told me to apply for business but just in case also apply for–what she thought would be a good fit–social ecology because I already had my prerequisites done for that major. So, if you really want to go to UCI choose an alternative major that is less impacted and then when you get in then switch majors. Business is completely different though. No TAG. No switching to business admin when I get in. You’re either admitted in or your not.

@yourHIGHne55 i stayed up till 3am last night refreshing my portal and this thread lol. Sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night just to check my portal are you going to stay up ?
We should all get together Thursday of this week and have a LOTR watch-a-thon (in tribute to UCI’s Middle Earth residence complex) where we have intermittent pauses so everyone can check their admissions portal. The movie will kill the time (probably won’t do anything for anxiety though).
I don’t want to do any uci events cause they are just a tease, once I find out… I’ll go down there for a visit if granted admission. Would be cool to meet some of you though. Anyone down for doing this again for grad school?! I had a dream I was riding an anteater with a unicorn horn on its dome last night. I loved those speculative posts earlier that cheered me right up, the end is nigh … I look forward to logging on here and seeing like 3 digits in that little red box.
TAG people started getting admissions around 2pm last Thursday so we can expect it anytime after that anytime this week. To save the stress, I’m just going to bet on Thursday/Friday for admissions. I’d love to see them earlier than that though.
I just messaged uc Irvine admissions on Facebook and they said that mostly honors and TAG have found out so other decisions will follow after until next 2 weeks…
This makes me worry. 3.67 gpa, tagged, IGETC, and prereqs done. Didn’t receive an update yet. Got in to UCR in the first wave, so I assume my application is alright.
