got a rejection today…states he should work harder to get more than minimum eligibility? He has a 3.2 GPA at this time and will be 3.4 after the classes that are being taken at this time…all i can think of is that over 3 years ago he was at UC Merced and got ill and grades plummeted and he got all Fs…UC Merced told him to wait to get medical care for his ADHD till he got home because they had a 2 month wait to get in to seek help…it was his first 4 months and so he came home and instead of going back to UC Merced after they sent him a letter of reinstatement he decided to go to CC…he was really worried that those grades would pull down his GPA even though he made up 2 of the classes…could not do the other 2 because they were UC Merced classes only offered at UC Merced…
UC Merced refused to remove his grades as Medical…even though he had notes from Doctors…he was not on meds because he made state and school honors from Hs with a 4.0…he went to Merced because they offered him a full ride…ADHD was only a minor problem in HS but when got to college it was a whole different ball game…
Good luck to all of you and see you next year if ya dont get this year theres always next year!!
I’ll do a final review of accepted wait listed rejected and for those who included stats I’ll put them into the big collection. When I post that collection it will be divided by date of notification. Also I want to include info about what the portal looks like for accepted, wait list, and rejected. Wait list results in green boxes and then where does it say wait listed ? Rejected to my understanding is more like a white page that says admission decision… If down the road those who are admitted from the waitlist want to compile those stats I’m sure it would help out the next cohort of applicants who review this thread.
@lugi350 I’m actually confused as to whether or not Calc II is required from my CC, but I’m planning to take it over the summer. Other than that, I’m currently enrolled in the last couple of courses needed for my major.
@chiapuffs that has to be it. I would think every CC has a Calc 2, so im pretty sure that’s it. You’ll get in next year for sure, and try to TAG if you can. You only need Calc 2 for UCI most other UCs and CSUs require through Calc 3 and another one after that, Differential something… I forgot the name. I think that class is optional for UCI.
Friend was just rejected
Major: EE
GPA:3.11
Prereqs:Missing one
IGETC: Missing 1

Accepted: CSU Sacramento, CSULA
Waitlist: CPP, UCSD
Rejected: UCI, UCD, UCSB,SJSU
my sons game plan for this year…Talk with UC Merced and try again to get them to give him a Medical withdrawal for his grades due to his ADHD and circumstances…retake a “D” grade and petition to fix his 2 “C” grades…find a college that offers Python CS class since the 2 closest don’t offer it…he will than TAG UCSC and apply again to UCI…he will apply for CS game for his major and this time he will add CS as a second…he is disappointed he did not get in however he agrees he is still young and there is more than enough time to spice up his resume for next year…
he will also head over to Sony gaming where we know the head programmer and artist and see about interning with them…he also has many other stuff that he can add that he did not add UGH to his application…like that he is signed up with a company through YOU TUBE where they pay him to post his gaming info…also that he made a map that is played all over the World in games…he says its fun to listen to those in China try to get through his map in the game talking in Chinese…he didnt want to add that stuff…why i have no clue…
this year those that have been rejected…find all different ways to make it so they just cant turn you down I find it in bad taste that they turn away those that have really high GPAs like some have on here…I know they cant take everyone and that the UCs are as fickle as they get…but still even those that TAG are over looked for those from other states and other countries…UGH…
Double check your Assis.org classes and see if there are some that you need to add that will benefit you for other colleges…pay a professional to help you with your essays next year…and call admissions and try to find out what they saw that they did not like…
Yup rejected, 3.22 for Public Health Policy, I’m not sure if I want to appeal anymore though because they want the most recent transcript and since I’m an intercampus transfer applicant, my winter quarter will be on there and it’s not as high as I would have liked. I have sent my SIR to SJSU at least. Good luck to those of you who are on the waitlist!
is this the rejection letter that you all got in your rejections…is this a general letter to all rejections?
Admission Decision
Thank you for applying to UCI. After a thorough review of your transfer application and supporting materials, we regret to inform you that we will be unable to offer you admission for the application term stated above.
Within our holistic review process, we take great care in the consideration of every application. Admissions officers thoroughly review each application and carefully balance many factors including grades, coursework, test scores, honors and awards, work experience, community service, and leadership. We are honored to receive so many applications from such talented students.
We encourage you to continue with your studies and, if possible, consider applying to UCI for a future term. Because UCI is highly selective at the transfer level, we recommend you establish a strong academic record above minimum eligibility.
If you would like more information about transfer options and admission requirements, please visit www.admissions.uci.edu or call our office at 949-824-6703. The office is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Thank you for your interest in UCI. We wish you every success in achieving your educational goals.
Does anyone have an exact date as to when Financial Aid award letters will be up for UCI? I know I’ve seen “early May” somewhere but an exact date would be nice.
