Yup, I had the same issue with logging in on the summer session website. I called, and was told that the online service is simply not available for transfer students yet (I don’t recall why, but I think it’s probably because we’re not officially enrolled as students yet). They said that I have to sign up for the class by sending in a form with the appropriate payment in the mail. I already live in Irvine full-time, so I just turned in the form and payment in person.
Did anyone else get an email regarding the summer transfer advising sessions (the ones causing the non-academic holds)? I was emailed by the school of pharmaceutical sciences last week, and already called in to sign up for a workshop.
@uctransfer16 Are you signed up for summer classes at UCI? If you are, your zotlink should be activated once the current spring quarter of UCI ends according to the person I spoke to a couple days ago.
Anyone know the difference between orientation and the summer academic advising session? What happens at orientation and is it important? I was thinking of going to the academic advising session since it’s mandatory but skipping orientation. Don’t want to travel to UCI twice.
@joshw17 it appears that orientation is optional, academic advising is not. The advising session should be an overview of your major, and to give you an idea as to how you can get through your respective major as expeditiously (and efficiently) as possible.
Once we complete the advising session we can enroll in summer classes! I will be taking 4 classes!!! So much for an extended vacation.
Orientation is likely just an intro into life at UCI. Probably show you where the libraries are, housing, places to eat, campus activities, clubs, etc… My schedule is packed, so I’ll be passing on that activity. I like to discover those things on my own.
Hey guys! If you would like to discuss any questions or concerns about the transition into UCI with other peers, please consider joining the “UC Irvine Fall 2016 Transfer Students” facebook page
Use EEE to look up previous quarters class websites and syllabuses to get a heads up on some of the classes, I was able to note what classes tend to be offered year round or specific quarters and put together a rough plan of the next year… Helped me to feel less anxious. See if your major has a Facebook page within the UCI community, I’ve chatted with professors and graduates and gotten lots of tips that way, and as was said by E2, join the transfer group on Facebook
@BackNSchool83 I tried to join that group, entered my UCI email address as instructed, and never received any notification that my request was approved. Any tips on how to make that happen?
