“Your application for admission to UC Santa Barbara for Fall 2014 has been carefully considered. We regret that we are not able to offer you admission at this time. Admission for Fall 2014 was very competitive and we were unable to accept many qualified applicants.”

I am going to call to ask for the exact reason why rejected =(

^Did you finish your required English classes?

^Yeah it must have been a reason like that for a 3.7 TAG to be rejected. @HappyRabbit123, please tell us if you find out why you were rejected!

I have both of the English classes done with grade A. I will call for the reason tomorrow. And let you guys know

It’s an incredible thing to be official! Super excited.

It may have to do with your personal statement. I think they actually look at your statement to see if you are actually interested or how you are interested about your major.

those of you guys that are still pending, when did you update your TAU?
mine is
application update submitted: 2/26/14
application update received: 2/28/14

The reason is they count the courses I took in the foreign university toward my GPA, it is kind of lower it to 3.2 …

@HappyRabbit123

How does that happen on a tag? Maybe go see your transfer advisor and have them call on your behalf. Did you have your math English completed by fall 2014? Sorry to hear that hopefully its an error.

@HappyRabbit123:
■■■■, I studied in a four year university before coming to US, I just mentioned in my application that I went there for one year, to explain the gap in my education…then UC officials emailed me to send them a transcript(even unofficial), but I never got any transcript from my university for political reason(in mid-east)…And I explained those stuff to them. I hope they don’t reject me.

So my app is still pending and I was hoping someone could chance me.

Major: Psych
IGETC: Complete by Spring 2014
Pre-Req’s: Complete by Spring 2014
Overall GPA: 3.73
EC’s: Not very much when I applied except work experience since age 16

Hooks: First generation college student, Mexican/Hungarian descent
Accepted: UCSC
Pending: UCLA, UCSB
Rejected: None yet

I think I am on the fence for UCSB since I am currently taking the second writing requirement (Phil 115). I hear that it is important to have it done by the Fall prior and I was technically enrolled then but the class got cancelled so I had to rearrange my entire schedule. A girl in my class got admitted with a lower GPA than me (3.6) and did not complete all the pre-req’s but she did however complete her minimum math/english by Fall. What are my chances?

P.S. Not sure if this makes a difference but I have all A’s and three B’s (Algebra, Oceanography and Ceramics–non-major-related.) I also took 23 units (7 classes) last semester and got 6 A’s and 1 B, so I am hoping that helps!!

There are only limited foreign schools/universities that United States universities recognize and accept. If your university is one of those universities, they might have counted your courses from there then.

Question for you guys:

Just how accurate do you guys think the UCSB counselors assess our courses?

The UCSB counselor I have been talking to for the past 10 months has said that from her unofficial evaluation I will have a very good chance to get in with TAG despite some of my classes being from CSU…

@dwencel24 do you know which website I can look for the list?

TonyStark93-My daughter was accepted to UCSB with a TAG, her CC just certified her IGETC and she had a few courses from SFSU and CSUDH…hope that helps! Good luck

No, but you can try to Google it. I learned this information from the UC Davis representative that I talked to. She said that there are certain foreign Universities/Colleges accredited in United States. This is one of the reason why some professional graduates from some foreign country can/cant practice their profession here in United States like medical doctor and engineer.
