Official UCSB 2014 Transfer Thread

Guys, I have a question.

Is it a bad idea to submit another TAU right now?

I have to change my math course because I dropped my Business Calculus 1 class and enrolled in Calculus 1 and I realized that I never really updated that portion…

I still haven’t gotten my decision btw, it’s still pending.

@tonystark I would probably call tomorrow, right when they open. If you submit online, and they are in the middle of/or releasing desicions, or looking at your application, maybe it could screw things up on your application. If you talk to someone live, they could maybe look into it or you could maybe talk to your transfer adviser to see what they say or if they could help.

@bkkn2010 where can you see when the school receives the TAU?

@alsjfllakejfa When you log into the admissions site, it should say TAU received right on the main page

@tonystark93 just a heads up, the window closed to do another TAU on the 31st. you’d have to call or email because I just had to do the same thing this week.

I have a question about my TAG/acceptance to UCSB. I was accepted already.

I’m completing the IGETC, and I am finishing up the language requirement with a2nd semester of American Sign Language (ASL 102) this Spring 2014. However, I fear I might get a D if I slip up.

So my question is - will getting a D in any of my IGETC courses, specifically my language 102 course, give UCSB cause to rescind my acceptance/TAG? I did the number crunching and my overall UC GPA and Spring 2014 GPA will still fulfill the TAG requirements, it’s just I could possibly have a D. My overall GPA and Spring 2014 GPA should still be well above the minimum 2.0 GPA

Actually, found the answer to my own question.

Maintain at least an overall GPA of 3.0. Complete all courses indicated as “in progress” or “planned” with no grade lower than a “C.” If you earn any grade below “C,” notify the Office of Admissions immediately. Changes in your overall GPA or your schedule may result in a change in your admission status and/or your eligibility for specific majors.

I’ve been in SB and in love with it for 3 wonderful years now, but the Comm program there isn’t what I wanted. I really only want to go to San Diego or Santa Cruz, so I’m still holding out hope Santa Cruz will give me a yes and I can make a choice!

All of you considering UCSB and it’s a program you like… do it. There is honestly no comparison. IV is a wonderful place to live (find the right crowd- considering join the student housing co-ops!), and downtown is great as well. UCSB is an amazing campus with so many activities and ways to get involved. I’m so grateful I was able to take advantage of all of that, even with being a student at SBCC.

@ajmarr‌ what don’t you like about the Comm Dept?

@lindyk8‌ UCSB’s program is theory-based… I want to go into Health Communication or Health Education, and SDSU has that. UCSC has Fem Studies (my second choice) where you can focus in Health and Science. I started at SBCC because I thought I wanted to transfer to UCSB as a bio major and then fell in love with com too!
