^^ Seriously. If I had my heart set on a CSU, hell I could have transferred last year. The only reason it took an extra year was because I was juggling communications AND anthro prerequisites just so I could apply as a comm major to the UCs that offered it, and as an anthro major to the UCs that did not offer comm.

going to a UC is supposed to be more prestige, but there are many great CSUs, some that are even better than the lower tiered UCs. The only reason why I chose a UC over a CSU was that I received a full tuition award at the UCs…but now sometimes i regret my decision to decide to a UC over a CSU…because now I want to transfer

[/ul]General Comments: ucsc took FOREVER to release my decision :\ yours is coming soon!

i also applied to berkeley, and i know santa cruz is going off of whatever berkeley said about my application. i’m wondering if this is a good sign about berkeley or not. i know they have varying levels of how much they want to accept you (fulfills requirements, good admissions candidate, recommended admissions candidate, etc)… so i’m guessing since sc is much less selective they would probably accept a lower acceptable admissions level even if berkeley only wants the highest. any thoughts?

^Congratz on finally being admitted! Are you still waiting for other acceptances/financial aid awards before you commit to a single school? Also, I’m not entirely sure about Berkeley. All I know is that UCLA, UCB and UCSC are using the same counselors to assess applications. From what I saw on the freshman thread though, it seemed like those who were overqualified for UCSC got rejected, so maybe they were going to be admitted to UCLA/UCB? I’m not sure, but maybe the transfer acceptances/rejects are similar?

yeah i want to see my financial aid awards and visit the campuses i’ve been admitted to first. my residency status is very weird too, so i can’t even find out what my “real” financial aid award will be until i accept admission, which is ■■■■■■■■. they’re going to initially be figuring out my award based on OOS tuition, but there’s a loophole where i am still a california resident and always will be, but they won’t verify that until i accept.

i guess we won’t know about the berkeley/la situation until those decisions are released. i am doubtful that one uc campus would deny you just because another one would admit you. but we will find out soon enough.

@kingdomsroa48 I hope that the reason why UCSC is taking so long to release my decision is because I’m “overqualified” for UCSC and that I’m getting into UCLA.
Haha but I’m sure that is not the case and that I will only have been accepted to UCR and SDSU ![]()
On the contrary, CSULA and CSUN rejected me even though SDSU accepted me. Weird, huh?

^^ really? CSUN and CSULA? Did you ask why?

Rejected
3.52 GPA
English Major
Out of state University
Single-year transfer

Depressing indication of how the rest of my decisions will likely go. Oh well, I’ll suck it up and head to CC next year :)

^Ouch, sorry! Its a lot harder to transfer from out of state, which is why I came to CA and spent a year at a CCC. Good luck with everything! :)

@kingdom
have you been admitted yet/finally? i mean this is stressing me out now, just worrying about your admission, no time to worry about my own. if you have any trouble, you might need to send them a printout of this thread. haha.

@Northbeach- LOL! Please, there is no need to worry about my admission. I’ve got enough feelings of worrying to spread around this whole thread! haha. But no, I haven’t been admitted yet. I did talk to a UCSC admissions counselor (and evaluator!) today in person. I’ve met with her a few times and she knows me on a slightly more personal note now because of it. She told me that the reason my application is taking so long is because I have mixed coursework from a CCC and OOS 4 year and because of my recent TAU update I had submitted. She called me about 45 minutes ago to tell me that she checked the status of my application and it had been forwarded to a senior evaluator to make a decision because of my mixed coursework and that I should have a decision within a week.

Guess I’ll be hearing from all five schools at once! Where all have you been admitted to, north? Are you waiting for FinAid or…?

@kingdomsroa48 On one hand I’m sure it sucks not having heard from any campus yet, but at the same time the possibility of hearing from five schools at once sounds like it’ll be a fun roller coaster of a week!

Kind of off topic but you actually kind of made me view SC in a better light. Living so close to Santa Cruz, I took it for granted and disregarded it as a throwaway school until I saw your posts on this thread! Good luck, hope you get into SC (:

Sent from my HTC Evo 3D using CC

@ kingdomsroa: Hope you get in soon! All 5 schools at once? LOL! You must be brave, that would make my head explode =]

Although that is a possibility for me also. I’m still waiting on I, SD, LA, Cal, and Davis. I’d better wear a helmet.lol

@kingdom were you able to tag after attending the four year? I took 44 credits this year so idk if I took too many to be able to tag… ok that wasn’t a coherent sentence but I hope you get the point… im back east so it’s my bedtime.

@kingdom
oh, that sounds like very good news. thanks for the update. it is stressful, but good to know that we have done all we can to achieve our goals. accepted: ucsc and ucsb. just waiting for the “big guns” now. like the rest of the people on here. hope we all get in.

ucsb posted my financial aid award letter today, and that was very good news. not feeling too much strain because i know in two years i will have my BA one way or another. it has been quite an adventure getting this far!

Is anyone else appealing their decision?

@randroid- I’m sure its very easy to disregard it because you’re so close. I’m not /too/ far from UCR, so thats pretty much a no-go throw away for me, but that seems to be most peoples’ opinion of UCR anyways, so I don’t feel too bad. Anyway, I love SC so hopefully it will be a good experience!

@iDizzle- Better buckle up! Guess I’ll have to pass you a helmet soon, too! Lets try to keep the majority of our heads in tact and make it through this process so we can actually move on to bigger and better things…

@hellothere- No, but for two reasons. One, SC has a VERY strict rule about not having more than 20 units (yes, 20!) from a four year university, which disqualified me from TAG. Other universities have a higher limit, 60+, I believe? I’m not 100% sure, you’d have to double check that. Also, I did not have 30 units at the time I applied for the UC’s, so yeah…I think I’ve read that there is some way around that, but again, I’m not 100% sure. TAG would’ve been very nice to have though… Are you trying to transfer to a UC from an OOS on the east coast?

@northbeach- So glad to hear you have at least heard fro SC and SB. I’m sure that definitely brings some solace to you! Best of luck to you. If you get in everywhere, where would you go? If not, same question- where would you go? Good news on UCSB’s FinAid award, that must be nice! Gosh, to think people are receiving their financial aid awards and some haven’t even heard an admissions decision! Crazy how the application process works…In either case, I agree that in two years or so, it doesn’t really matter terribly where we end up, because at least we’ll have a bachelors!

@kingdom
not going to worry too much about where to go until all the decisions are in. but i would like to get back to work, and LA would be the best place for me to work and go to school. but as you can imagine, i am so grateful to have a chance to attend any UC. they are world class schools all of them.

by the way, UCSC has not sent my admissions packet or an award letter, so it seems they are taking their time. let’s just say that this is good news for you!
