Official UCSC Transfer 2012 Decisions

^People are already finding out about their financial aid awards!

Anyways, congratz you two! My status didn’t change, yet again…

^^congrats you guys! that’s great. the campus is really nice by the way.

any engineering major heard back from baskin yet? I want to sir, but i’m probably goona dump the school if i don’t get into my major. Really wish i used tag for another school though, since alot of the applicant to baskin got the same email about not enough classes to evaluate even though we all met the requirement for it and you had until spring 2012 to finish everything.

Congrats ^^^!

I guess this means ucsc is more lenient or reviewing the applications holistically.

Sent from my HTCAmaze4G using CC

@kingdomsroa48 yeah all of my classes were at pierce, valley, mission, and coc. (All CCCs) I did take one concurrent enrolment class at UCLA though. Honestly, I think all admissions personnel either have no clue what’s going on, were told to lie, or just don’t care at all. I mean, think about it: they don’t owe us s***. The reason why I think I’m rejected is because UCSC emailed me asking about my class at UCLA like around February; so, I’m sure they have already reviewed everything. I even had to send them a screenshot of the unofficial transcript for that class. Ugh.

@northbeach thanks. I’m trying to be as patient as possible but this is such a stressful situation. Last year, I was rejected by UCSB under psychology. My cumulative GPA was submitted at 3.867 before; but, I actually thought I only had 3.6 something. I had to wait until past the deadline because they just took longer than expected. My GPA dropped significantly after having got rejected by every single school to which I had applied. I actually dropped out at that time, way past the drop W deadline; so, they had to give me a grade of Fail, D, C, etc. Real talk, that almost drove me to suicide… I also almost got fired from my job as I started destroying store merchandise. (I got rejected by UCSD, my first choice at the time, whilst at work. Drove me INSANE.) I don’t want that to happen to me again.

Fortunately, it won’t because I’ve got SDSU and UCR now. Lol

@orgasmic Were you able to TAG anywhere that you would really like to go? I would imagine a TAG would take away a lot of these worries.

@anythinggoes1 Last time, I got TAG at both UCSD and UCSB. I had still got rejected. UCSB says I lost the TAG and was considered for regular admission, which I thought was complete bull. I chose not to apply with TAG this year.

@orgasmicdanger
that is a wild story. and i totally understand! it is incredibly stressful trying to get through a CC, just because the administration is hard to cope with. how awesome that you are just dealing with the chaos and transferring after all that stress. it is really important to earn a college degree in the modern world.

@Beachbum alright cool dude Ill most likely sign in my SIR as well, just promised my mom id go to the UCSD Transfer Admit Day on may 12th or something. And ill probably be staying at the Transfer Community. I might have been at the same spring spotlight as you I went Monday last week (April 9th)

@Samura92 I got my acceptance letter march 17th or 19th or something? Part of the first batch.

Again my financial aid award came out late thursday (april 12th) UCSC was very generous, more generous than UCSD or UCR

Sounds like UCSC is giving away some hefty aid this year. Yay! Good news all around! :)

@kingdomsroa48
any news yet about admission?

^Well I got rejected to UCSB today, but other than that, Nope! Sucks to hear a big fat “WE DONT WANT YOU” as your first decision…lol. Not really too surprised though, to be honest! UCSB has wayyyy different pre-reqs than SC that I didn’t complete. Thanks for asking, though! :)

super excited! who’s for sure attending?

@iDizzle: UCR, UCI, UCM and of course, UCSC. Also expecting bad news from UCI because of the whole pre-req thing. Its odd how UCSC’s pre-reqs differ so much from the other UC’s, at least in bio.

@415- Congratz! I’m definitely attending, assuming I get in. How about you?

@415 -congrats!! and I am almost for sure going, still waiting on ucsb cal and ucla… but i really love ucsc so i think its going to be the place for me no matter what.

@kingdoms - thats so crazy you havent heard back yet! but i only heard back from them about a week ago, i still havent gotten a response from ucsb but honestly i dont like it very much there anyways. i kind of live near there, and in high school we all went there a lot for parties… kind of over it. but im keeping my fingers crossed for you for ucsc!

@ kingdoms: Oh ok. Wth. I don’t understand why you haven’t heard anything from UCR yet. Hell, you’re 3.5 is good man I don’t why it’s taking so long for you. You have TAG for SC though don’t you?

@kingdom
if they don’t let you in we will create a riot at the school.
maybe tomorrow they will send word.

@beachbum- Yeah, I didn’t plan on attending UCSB anyways so I’m not terribly bummed. If I got my word, you will most definitely be receiving yours shortly! I’ve got a really complicated application, so yours should be here any day now.

@iDizzle- Probably because I have got one heck of an application to evaluate with my OOS credits. The UCSC evaluator told me, at least for UCSC, my application had been forwarded to a senior evaluator for evaluation. Im assuming the same thing happened with UCR, but not 100% sure. No TAG for UCSC, I didn’t qualify with my OOS units and also, I didn’t have 30 units at the time I applied for the TAG. Ahhh, well. Hopefully the cards are in my favor! You going to SIR any time soon? :)

@northbeach- LOL. RIOTTTT. As if there weren’t enough of those going on around the UC’s over tuition now anyways! Hopefully I’ll hear sometime this week! Good thing I didn’t want to go to UCSB anyways… :D

Hey guys, thanks for being so supportive. I’m actually really surprised that many of you take the time to see whats going on in the CC world while having your own UC worries. You guys are awesome! And so kind… :)

@ kingdoms: Aaaahh I see. Okay well that makes sense. I mean your gpa is pretty solid so I don’t think it would have caused you so much trouble with the decisions but yeah the oos stuff probably made it a little harder. As far as I understand some oos courses do not qualify for certain cc courses or something. Same with 4yr-to-4yr transfers, not all the units carry over. Hope all goes well though I know you’ve been hanging in there for a long time. I probably will not SIR until next month since I’m still waiting on 5 of the other schools. LOL. My gf and I came to a compromise for UC Davis though, since there are more job opportunities in her field in Sacramento as opposed to SB area, she’s graduating this fall. But I have to get accepted to Davis first. LOL. Still really looking forward to SD though i hope i hope! =]
