I saw a lot of people with bikes. I think since the campus is uphill they take their bikes on the bus to school and then when theyre done with classes the ride their bikes down. The transfer housing is at the bottom of the hill so it would be a good idea to do that. I saw a lot of people riding their bikes down hill. theres also bike trails thru the fields :)

Yeah, I definitely think a bike would be nice to have for the trails and what not around. From what I’ve heard though, its more of a hassle to have one than not. I saw way more people walking or taking the bus over riding.

^^ You know what would be nice? Zip-lines.
Zip-lines > bikes & buses.

@uchappytrain
yeah, they are so stoned they can only ride down hill. haha.
of course at santa barbara they are too drunk to ride, if it is not one thing it is another. of course i have seen three of my friends who graduated from CAL skiing with martini glasses in their hands (full). hmm.

@kingdom
oh, hills. i am from SF, hills are not a problem. hey are you in yet! or must we riot already. seriously. we can’t wait any longer.

If I was going to visit UCSC what places do you guys suggest I visit in the area?

go to the boardwalk! It can be cheesy but fun. But dont go to the boardwalk’s beach, go to Capitola, lots of smaller more private, cleaner beaches

yeah the boardwalk is so nice. its clean too. theres also a small aquarium thats owned by UCSC it’s called the seymore marine lab or something. we went there and it was nice, you can touch anemones and fish and sharks, really fun
and natural bridges beach is a nice beach too, small and not crowded

Loving the pictures, train! Thanks for sharing! I haven’t been to the beach yet (I got REALLY sick when I was up in SC, it was on my to-do list though!) but definitely plan on doing so.

@northbeach- NOPE. Trust me, it will be ALL over this board when I finally do! You know, if there is any prospective fall 2013 transfer in a situation like mine, at least they have some sort of idea when they read this next year of what to expect…

On another note: For anybody considering transferring to UCSC, are you guys going to attend transfer orientation in the Summer? I heard it wasn’t mandatory, but HIGHLY recommended because that’s when you register for courses. Otherwise, you get last picks… :/

Am I the only Poli Sci transfer student still waiting on a decision?

^I’m still waiting but not a Pol Sci major. Are you coming straight from a CC, or do you have a complicated school history? They’re still evaluating transfer through the end of the month…

My history is definitely complicated. I’m currently at a CC, but I’ve taken classes at many other colleges because I am military. I’ve been accepted by UCSB, but still waiting on acceptances at 3 other places.

Accepted into astrophysics in late march.

@Zimdig- That could be why. I was told that certain applications cannot be completed by normal evaluators and have to be forwarded to senior evaluators to make a final decision on.

@chewbacca- Nice! So jealous!

@chewbacca
astrophysics! COOL. by the way UCSC has a great physics dept. but you know that. my brother did astrophysics. it is really the BEST possible major. like your name chewbacca. haha.

@chewbacca, did you apply at sb or berkeley too? i got accepted into sb as a physics major and sc as astrophysics… and i just got accepted today at ut austin for astronomy. i probably won’t get accepted to berkeley’s astrophysics program. did you apply anywhere else? is sc your top choice for physics? i’m having trouble deciding :

Accepted! (I just checked)
