jnguyen can’t even spell banana hahaha

LA Andrew I live in San Diego, i dont know if thats close enough to you but its still SOCAL and I got some friends that go up to SC and love it.

@dremaniac- i havent SIRed yet but i am almost positive i am going and going to stay at the transfer community

@LAandrew- I am from los angeles, the valley area to be exact

@LAandrew im from los angeles and will most likely be going to UCSC. Still waiting on UCI, admission still pending.

Whoo SoCal! I’m probably going to sc since they gave me the most money.

Have you guys decided on Porter, then? I’m kind of stuck in the middle. I REALLY want my own space, and that is guaranteed in The Village…I also think it would be an interesting and fun living experience, nothing like the dorm life I’ve already experience. What do you all think?

@kingdoms- i am kind of in that same position. i have been to school and had a horrible room mate experience and would really really love to have my own room this time around. and i like that the village has a kitchen… but yeah im not sure… i feel like the transfer community would be a better way to meet people, since i pretty much know no one there that is a plus. so i am still on the fence about it. and i am not exactly sure where it is, is it kind of out of the way from classes?

^I TOTALLY agree. At the same point in time though, I don’t like that the transfer community seems somewhat segregated from other current UCSC students that could help you learn the ins and outs of the campus. I dunno. I guess at Porter, everybody is new, which is not necessarily true at The Village. It also is somewhat far from classes, but it would be easy enough to catch a loop bus up to them. From what I understand they run pretty frequently. The Village is also at the bottom of a giant ravine, if you didn’t know that. Its weird, but neat!

Well it depends what you want your college experience to be like. If you want to drink, meet new people, loud, etc. you should live in the Transfer community. But also remember that they are transfers so theyve been through more stuff, like community college, work, etc. I get the sense that the Village is gonna be grad students that are gonna be more focused on their schooling and wanting to keep the house quiet to study and stuff. Idk thats how I feel it might be like. But the transfer community does have singles for 1765 a month or something around there

its highly unlikely most of us will get a place at the villages, as most juniors and seniors as well as grad students have already applied for housing, and they all probably already registered for these places.

but yeah, Im so over the whole roommate thing…im just ready to enjoy my own space, which I have frosh and soph year, but I never got to live in the dorms or campus housing, and i feel its a great experience for college…UCSC c/o 2014 Go Slugs!!!

Im thinking if whoever lives in the transfer community in the fall, I say lets rage it, but be mindful of other students studying of course!

And keep in mind you only have to live in transfer housing for 1 quarter. I’m going to live in The porter transfer community, then try to transfer to Stevenson/cowell asap!

@ Kingdoms: Just checking in on you, anything yet?! =]

@dremaniac- See, I’m not really into partying so much. I don’t mind hanging out and having a good time, but I don’t want my life to be consumed by it. And my boyfriend and his friends had told me that plenty of people they know in SC live in The Village that are undergrads. I feel like most grad students would rather live a more adult lifestyle and live off campus and commute to school instead.

@samurai- Yeah, probably. The Village seems like it would be pretty limited in the amount of slots that it has open, especially for transfers. I probably wouldn’t mind Porter so much if I had my own room, but from what I hear those are scarce in Porter. Not to mention, you HAVE to have a meal plan and it costs like, $1700/month to live there…thats so much!

@beachgirl- Good point! I know you only have to live there for a quarter but I’d rather not have to move all my stuff around and across campus after a quarter, especially if I don’t have my car…

@iDizzle- Nothing yet…this is the last possible week they can tell me, though! I don’t think they release decisions on the weekends, so its either this week (M-F) or next Monday…With my luck, it will be next Monday! But yeah. Did I see on another board that you were accepted to UCLA? If so, thats amazing! Congratz! I thought you wanted to live up north with your girlfriend though…?

@kingdomsroa Just declined my acceptance to UCSC. Hopefully this frees up a space for you! Not sure if it even works that way, but best of luck.

@ kingdoms: Ah man, best of luck to you! Yes I did get accepted to LA, thank you! Yeah I guess I just didn’t want to give up the prestige of LA for going up north. I mean in 2 years when I graduate we can move up north then =]. For the time being, there are plenty of design firms that she can work at, she just hates the traffic. Good luck kingdoms! Hope this is your lucky week =]

@ asphyxiac: I did the same, I think it does help. Especially IF there is a waitlist in the end. I got waitlisted for SD this morning. lol.

@asphyxiac: I’m not sure, but who knows! Congratz on your acceptance to UCSD! (Saw it on the thread).

@iDizzle: I can imagine that after getting an acceptance like that it might change your plans a bit. I’m sure she’ll understand! :)

Accepted! I’m not sure if I’ll go or not, though; I’ll be waiting to hear from Berkeley and the privates I applied to (but unfortunately, the private decisions don’t come until May!).

@saveyourserpent dude dont go to a private school, unless its like stanford or something. Tuition keeps skyrocketing, and privates are becoming less desirable. If you get in to CAL def go there
