@dizzy99, Might I say what region are you from? And if on any chance, if your regional counselor had said anything about the decisions for the other waitlisted students?
I’m from Texas, Austin area specifically.
He didn’t mention anything about the decisions for other waitlisted students and I didn’t think to ask- I’m so sorry! I’m not sure if I was just one of many decisions happening this week or if it was a special circumstance. I have been communicating pretty closely with my regional counselor since December (and especially since March) so I couldn’t in all honesty speculate about what this means for other students.
@dizzy99 Congrats! Did he/she email you this morning and then you guys decided to call each other soon after that today or when did he firs contact you to call you?
He contacted me to asking to talk on the phone on April 25th at around 10 am (10 pm my time because of the study abroad time difference). I got back to him the next morning (er, afternoon/evening his time) and we set up an appointment to chat today at 9 pm my time/9 am his time.
Hey congratulations @dizzy99 . Oh! I am so badly hoping for that miracle call as well.
@oldmenewme I’m domestic, just confirming what other posters have said
So if we don’t receive a email by tomorrow morning, should we just give up hope practically?
@almosthereplz I don’t think anybody can answer that with certainty. It will be speculation, so don’t get disheartened. The people who know are not talking and the people who don’t shouldn’t matter to you. Hang in there
Are you automatically not considered for receiving a spot off the waitlist if you never sent a LOCI? I know it sounds ridiculous but I just never got around to doing it.
Has anyone received an email from their regional admission officers about the waitlist yet? If so, what region and what time did you receive it at?
@deepfriedjustice No. My sister never sent one, and she got off the waitlist two years ago.
Has anyone from Southern California gotten off? My admissions officer (Edgar Gonzalez) took about two weeks to respond the first time I emailed him, and I emailed him a week ago. I’m worried I won’t be considered for the final waitlist spots.
@Sterben I’m from SoCal, and Edgar emailed me about a day after I emailed him (I emailed him on the 16th when decisions came out and he responded on the 17th), but that could have been because he was expecting emails around that time so he was ready to respond. I don’t think it means anything that it took him slightly longer to respond to you. I haven’t heard from him or emailed him since, but I’m still hoping? Is it possible that they went from east coast to west coast? I feel like most of the people I’ve heard from have gotten off in in the eastern/Midwestern states, and, just in this past week, the southern states. I haven’t heard from anyone in California about getting in, so that’s what I’m hoping for, but I’m also trying not to get my hopes up because it’s totally possible that I just don’t know anybody who’s gotten in around here.
I was just curious about his lack of email communication.
Also, does anyone not have the check on their uchicago supplement on their checklist? I submitted mine through CommonApp, and I can’t remember if it ever had a check on it.
I’m from Cali too (SF) and I haven’t seen nor hear anyone else who’s gotten off of the waitlist from Cali.
i haven’t even heard back after sending in my letter three weeks ago. no confirmation, nada. i thought about sending a follow up but…haven’t yet.
Is anybody getting ready for AP Exams next week?
I’m more worried about UChicago than AP exams at this point (which I shouldn’t, but I can’t help it) lol.
So has anyone got off the waitlist today?
@Techman24 I am!! I have all four of mine in a row next week and prom Friday :((
@almosthereplz, do not worry. Have faith and pray that all of it will come true. The one solution to get rid of worries is to focus on another task and let the previous one come to pass. GOOD LUCK (:
