Lol what other answer would you expect them to say? :p

Some alternatives:
- “I don’t have information on that.”
- “It is not yet under review but your application is complete.”
- “We have not yet started to review deferred applications.”
…
…
.

:)

Oh yes.
Good luck!

Michigan should admit you only on the basis of your demonstrated interest in wanting to get in so badly, omgmit :)

I wish they had such a criteria.
I have to admit; Michigan is my first choice right now.

Thank you by the way. After demonstrating so much impatience, it would be such a shame if I get rejected.

I want to get in badly as well!! :d

I hope you hear soon, I’m watching you guys almost as closely as I was my daughter! Has anyone from this group started up a facebook page so you guys might get to know eachother before school starts. Just an idea. They did that from the Northwestern thread.

Thank you. That means a lot!

As far as I know, there is no Facebook page for that matter. I can organize something like that after (or if) I get accepted. :)

Thank you jorabamama!

Also when I called the Michigan office I asked, “Why did I get deffered?” The guy said he doesn’t have that type of information available to him but could give me the email of the admissions counselor who reviewed my application if I gave him my UM ID. I have a question: Should I email the guy asking why I got deffered or am I rushing a bit too much?

I have a gut feeling that I should probably wait out for another week or two for a decision and then maybe email the guy…

Tell me what you guys think.

I think emailing the admissions counselor is unnecessary. Even if he tells you the reason you’re deferred, it won’t change anything. You won’t be able to strengthen you application according to his answer as you don’t have enough time.

I think the best thing to do is wait. If you get accepted, you will enjoy your acceptance. If you don’t, you may ask the admissions counselor the reason of you rejection.

Whatislove, since you were deferred during RD instead of EA, you might have to wait awhile before hearing back. I’m watching too, and hoping you and omgmit will get in. It is a good idea to reaffirm your interest in the college in an email. Perhaps not an immediate reactionary email, but maybe after a week or two has passed. You can let them know of any recent accolades, accomplishments or grade improvements since you applied. I wouldn’t put them on the spot as to why you were deferred but assure them of your continued interest. Every so often someone is deferred because the school doesn’t think they’re interested. The email should be friendly and upbeat of the sort you would like to get if you had to reject or admit 5 people competing for a single spot. They get pretty stressed I imagine.

It’s a tough call whether to contact them. If you do, keep it positive. Let them know how very much it means to you to attend U of M. Maybe say something to the effect that you are wondering if there is any one thing in your application that caused your deferral that you might have the opportunity to improve upon. For example would it help to send in a couple more referrals? I don’t think you can go wrong by expressing your love for U of M and letting them know your still interested. You don’t want to become a pest though, so think of everything you want to say or ask, condense it as much as possible and go for it. Just my thoughts though…

Are you thinking of contacting them through email? By the way, it seems like no one has noticed that there were no decisions today. Maybe there will be waves on each Friday?

@whatislove

If your intention is to state the famous “I’m here and I’m interested”, I believe the best way would be by sending a new credential.

You can, for instance, e-mail them to let they know about a sports competition you’ve won. You may disperse in your text some sentences that show your motivation to go to UMich. The fact that, even after a deferral, you are still trying to show them that you deserve an acceptace will make you sound motivated and decided.

To accept you, adcoms have to think you will fit at the university. Just help them with that. Don’t forget you’re a Wolverine and Go Blue! :)

I had sent them that kind of a letter along with my mid-year report. Let’s see if it will help. :)

when an applicant goes to the status check on the website, what does is say when you click on your status? Is is very specific that you are accepted, deferred or denied? Or does that come in the email. And if they have not reviewed your app completely, what does it say? thank you

Your decision will come in email. However, you will have a “View Decision” link in the WA as soon as a decision for your file has been announced.
