***Official University of Michigan Class of 2015 Decisions Thread***

my entire application was complete by early/mid november and I have not received a decision. On this forum, it seems that some people have been accepted that applied month(s) after me…is that a sign of a deferral/rejection at some point? I would think they would have reviewed my app. by now.

@gg123456: I applied about the same time you did and I was deferred. I thought it was quite odd that i was deferred so late. After a small talk with one of my teachers, who is a college professor (taking an early computer science course), stated that U of M was probably over whelmed with a bunch of applications. So I’m guessing your application is probably still under review or they could be doing them by majors or something? Who knows haha. I hope you hear from them soon and aren’t deferred like I was. :)

My daughter applied in October and just heard Friday that she was accepted. Don’t give up hope! Good luck!

General Comments, scholarship chances, status info?
What would be my GPA approximately with AP(bonus points)? Also…I wonder what made me deferred…is my GPA relatively low compared to other students? I really tried hard since grade eight to apply to good schools…I’m very disappointed…

Wow, they seem to have no certain criterion. I wonder if the university has a set random number generators instead of admission officers.

They accepted people with lower stats than yours and deferred people with higher stats.

i think the guy with a 22 ACT and 3.3 UW was ■■■■■■■■.

Also, thank you all for your input - I guess I’ll just wait a bit more before I email the admissions counselor as I don’t want to look desperate. Just sent in my Mid-Year Report over the weekend and will be sending another teacher recommendation around early next week.

I appreciate you support and will keep you guys updated on any news.

From what I’ve seen in both EA and RD, it looks like they are taking students who are within their normal range, ACT’s from 27-31 and deferring those who are higher. Probably to wait and see if they go to an Ivy League or if they are truley interested in U of M. what is love and OMGMIT, are you both currently deferred, I know one of you is? Has anyone that has been deferred received an answer? Oh this is torture!

I am deferred and as far as I know, whatislove is also deferred.

My SAT is 1970, so I should be in U of M range and out of Ivy League range. A friend of mine, a Michigan resident which came to my school with the exchange program has a 28 ACT and he is also deferred.

Some people that are deferred in EA period got their decisions; they were either accepted or deferred again. A second deferral seems to be the real torture.

Did you guys who were deferred EA send letters with updated info? We just did. Not sure it will matter…

I sent them a letter talking about the projects I’ve worked on during the term along with my mid-year report.

Yes jorabamama, I am currently deffered.

whatislove: I think you shouldn’t jump to such assumptions. I heard yesterday and if I were to go to U of M I would have to go to the LSA summerbrigde program.

I am now unsure of my decision. I feel that GVSU is a great school and I have invested a lot of time and even paid some of the fees associated with being an incoming freshman. However, U of M is equally, if not more so, a great school. I don’t know what to do.

^^^^To be honest I think you should go to GVSU. You seem to like it there a lot and I assume it will cost less to attend. Please don’t be offended, but I think it will be easier to thrive in an environment where you are among academic peers.

^^^It is funny you say my academic peers. I am unsure of how to take that without being offended. My low GPA is due to my freshman year and since I have not gotten lower than a 3.9. Which is now what my weighted GPA is. Just got a 4.23 and I was accepted so that should tell you something. I do not need to argue my credibility or how my accomplishment merit my acceptance. Anyways, That comment has actually inspired me to attend the University of Michigan. Thanks!

SEE YOU ALL IN THE FALL =)

Seems like most EA applicants were deffered, while RD is rolling normally over their 40% acceptance rate.

I think it is not possible to determine the RD acceptance rate by looking at CC because:

Only a small number of applicants visit CC and a smaller number actually posts their decisions here.

We have not seen a rejection yet.

I apologize for offending you, but you do realize that at Michigan you are among the weaker candidates to be admitted. Personally, I would rather be with other students who are my academic peers than to be the low man on the totem pole. A 22 ACT score, which i assume was take recently, is what caught my attention more so that your UW gpa. Honestly, I want you to succeed. My intentions were totally honorable. You indicated you didn’t know what to do and I injected my two cents worth. If you decide to go to Michigan, I wish you nothing but the best!

Okay. Thanks!

OMGMIT, the 40% was a “calculated guess” based on their last year rate. I’m still waiting for the moment you’ll come here and post your acceptance for us all :)
