***Official University of Michigan Class of 2015 Decisions Thread***

Thank you. Knowing that there are people here, actually caring about my admission means a lot to me. I hope that moment will come, and will come soon. :)

a kid at my school got in with a 24 and a 3.4. it ****es me off bc i have a 31 and a 3.89 and got deferred. hopefully i hear back soon though

Just a little piece of information that makes me think you guys will hear soon. Campus Days are listed on the incoming Freshman “to do list”, and they run January through March. Also, Merit scholarships are awarded in March. Hopefully they will give you all time to participate in those opportunities :)

I honestly think those that have not been yet gotten a decision/deferred/rejected/and accepted are looking too much at the stats of the accepted applicants, while admissions looks at the entire person (grades, essays, recommendations, etc.), not just their ACT and GPA. While grades are extremely important to the University of Michigan they value other things as well.

“a kid at my school got in with a 24 and a 3.4”

I would probably approach these numbers very carefully as to gaining admittance to UM. In a year where they are deferring very well qualified candidates (ACT 30+, GPA 3.8+)why on earth would they admit an ACT of 24 and a GPA of 3.4 UNLESS there are some other very unique circumstances…and not just admit him/her, but admit them this early? Something does not smell right.

I believe it to be true. I personally saw my daughters boyfriend get accepted in EA with a 30 while they were deferring kids with 33s and 34s with amazing profiles to go along with their test scores. There is really no reason for anyone to lie about it. I just hope everyone here who really has their hearts set on U of M gets in!

^^^^^If they are URM students, it’s very possible.

a kid at my school got in with a 24 and a 3.4.

Probably alumni ties, or some type of obstacle to overcome … I don’t know a single student with those stats who was admitted who did not have something else extraordinary to pile up points.

For the record, when I called admissions on behalf of a 2015 applicant, they flat out told me that campus days would only be for those who were accepted EA, and only those accepted for EA would be considered for merit scholarships.

They are not being very forthcoming in admissions. I also had called asking about Campus Days and Merit Scholarships last week Tuesday. I expressed my concern that my daughter would not be able to participate if she truley was not going to have a decision until April. They basically said, “tough luck” and that no one would get a RD decision until April, period. Then on Friday my daughter got her acceptance and we are already registered for a Campus Day visit on March 17. So definately you did not need to be EA to to these things. I really wish they would just be straight up.

I agree. I’m a current Freshman trying to figure out my housing situation for next year since I have to select a room oh, tomorrow. I’m waiting for my friend’s acceptance so we can get an apartment together, but they won’t give an answer. He has strong stats and was deferred EA. Hopefully he finds out soon, and I hope the same for the rest of you guys who are waiting!

xxCiaraxMist, can you chose your housing already? Do you actually get to pick a dorm, or just put in a preference? I thought it was May when you could check into housing, please let me know what you know about it, including what dorms look like the best. Thanks!

Jorabamama, incoming freshman indicate preferences in May, I believe. I’m currently enrolled at the University (a freshman majoring in Political Science). I’m sorry if I didn’t make that clear. I’d be happy to discuss housing with you, though admittedly I only know a lot about where I live, and not a whole heck of a lot about other dorms, besides what my initial impression is.

idk of any extenuating circumstances…i have known him since 3rd grade and we went to a private k-8. its frustrating considering i tutored him in both math and science for the past 3 years. But w/e, we will see what happens. if its not meant to be, its not meant to be

Oh yes, I see that now, you are a current freshman, sorry bout that. Can you tell me anything about the Northwood Homes that are more like apartments? Would that be good for a freshman, or is she better off in a dorm like West Quad? Thanks for your time! And how have you liked U of M so far?

goblue, I thought you were accepted on EA. Welcome aboard and good luck. :)

jorabamama, I sent you a PM so we don’t flood this thread. =]

thanks, you too omgmit

okay so no decisions this week so far? (Monday and Tuesday)

when do you guys think the next “wave” of decisions will come out? Friday?

btw, I got deferred OOS…

Well, the last wave was on Friday and there haven’t been any other decisions ever since. I think new wave will be on Friday, February 11th. However, I am just speculating. :)
