***Official University of Michigan Class of 2015 Decisions Thread***

why is your name OMGMIT if you want to go to Michigan?

Because when I first decided to register to this forum, I was not thinking of becoming an active member and that’s why I randomly chose a username which I thought didn’t matter that much. It was just random connotation. :)

haha okay. I literally applied on August 1st and am STILL waiting! please everyone, let us know if you hear back from Michigan.

Applied January 17, admitted February 6 for CoE. No scholarships yet.

Congratulations but did you get accepted on Sunday?

^ No, my bad. The email actually arrived on Feb 4 (Friday) and I read it on the 6th.

I got my hopes up when you said Feb 6th because there was a solid chance that you might have confused it with 7th, and that would mean that they were not just sending decisions on fridays.

^ Sorry, no such luck. Try to hang in there.

Apparently a potential transfer got rejected today. At least that is what I read over on the transfer forum.

UMich777, does the 777 stand for Boeing 777? Just guessing lol

By the way, do you guys think answering a decision in April would be too “late”? I haven’t researched about dorms and financial matters since I’ve been accepted for I’m waiting for other colleges’ decisions, but I’m half-certain I’m going to UMich.

I feel bad for the guy who got a 22. Test scores and GPAs aren’t a huge part of the process. Considering that in my high school the highest ACT score was a 29… They consider many other items such as family income (usually it is said that the poorer aren’t as likely to be smarter because parents cannot afford tutors and such) and how tough the high school is. A girl from my school was accepted last year to U of M and she only had a 22. Anyway, my point is that no one should say that someone doesn’t belong at a school because of how low their test scores are. :]

It would be such a shame if they are using the family income part as a criteria on decision-making process. Why don’t they go ahead and start making decisions on the basis of religion.

Hello Every1!!! I’m new here and am an intl. student.

Anyways, I too was deferred EA and am anxiously awaiting my new Affirmative result.

All the best to all candidates.

^^ You do know that his long winding post was inaccurate conjecture right?

Yes, I do. However, my answer still stands as all I’ve said was that if it was the reality, it would be such a shame. :D

@Koronekochan- My income had nothing to do with my acceptance. My mother makes a very nice paycheck, but I am glad that you too see that ACT and GPA are not the “say all” about an applicant.

I doubt if family income plays a huge income but I heard that it does matter for Internationals!! (Since the colleges do not provide aid)

I think it shouldn’t make a difference even if the applicant is international. To get an I-20, you need to provide proof that you have sufficent funds (with a bank letter) to pay for your college expenses. People may have savings, national scholarships or loans.

Oh yes OMGMIT!!

I forgot that the I-20 is issued Not based on parent’s income but total funds available. So what you say is absolutely correct.

Anyway, u are from Turkey right?
