OFFICIAL University of Michigan Decision - Class of 2013

updates are usually posted fridays if you check your email or your vmerse account

Hi Hostyoutube,
I’m in the same situation…my fall grades don’t show up on WA. I called, and the person I spoke with was not helpful at all. He said it would be posted only if they requested those grades. When I told him that my letter did ask for the grades, he said he saw they were received and it didn’t really matter if they were posted or not.
I have a 29 ACT, 4.0, tons of extracurricular, 2 Varsity sports, etc. 2 Aps and the counsellor at UM said that I should have taken more, although peers of mine got in with less. Ugh. I feel for you and everyone else who is waiting.

How can I check my acceptance, can I log onto my UM Wolverine account?..or what do I do?..

Rapunzle - we are in the same boat. Similar test score and GPA. Some decent E.C. Everything is pretty much the same (including at fall semester grade)

This decision process is becoming increasingly ridiculous. Don’t worry! Our stats should be Match.

Hi,
The fact that my peers were accepted with fewer APs and lower test scores and GPA is quite confusing. I understand the whole ‘holistic’ aspect that U of M is using, but that just makes me more confused as to why I haven’t been accepted.
From the posts I’ve read here, as a deferred student, are we now awaiting a mid-April acceptance? I see people are accepted weekly, but I’m not sure if they were deferred. I’m beginning to think that U of M isn’t the right fit for me…

lolz I flipped thru 30some pages…
zero rejections, either UMich’s friendly or they have waitlisted everyone else? =D

Lucky me. I got accepted. :D

Rapunzle, it seems that a lot of people were confused as to why they were deferred. I think a lot of it is just straight up bad luck, and how the admission officer felt the day they were looking over your file. As unfair as that is, it’s just the way that college admission works out. If you have good stats, it’s likely you’ll get in to U of M in the long run anyways.

Rapunzle - UMich accepted some students with even lower stats than me and I got deferred. Still nothing on WA. I thought their decision process is to use a formula and there is less personal influence on the decision made.

Applicant strength is only partially determined by GPA and test scores. There are other factors, such as essays, ECs, personal life experiences etc…that play a part in the final decision.

i’m still waiting for admission; looks like i missed another wave of decisions?

is the next round of decisions going to be this week?

When you get accepted don’t forget to join the “Accepted: University of Michigan Class of 2013” group on facebook.

And join the “uMICH Class of 2013 PHOTOS! University of Michigan Starting 2009” group if you wanna see some photos of your classmates.

Hi,
I agree that there are many other factors that determine an acceptance. I’ve exceeded all of the expectations, except for taking 2 AP classes. The counsellor at U of M told me that I should have taken more. I’m really starting to wonder if I’ll get accepted at all.

Yeah so i applied on December 28, 2008. When should i be hearing back? It’s been a while and friends that applied in early January have already heard back…i’m a little concerned.

is the next round of decisions going to be this week?

So I got the acceptance today with a special invitation to the Comprehensive Studies Program. What’s that all about? Does everyone accepted get it?
