Official Unofficial Class of '11 Thread

Home schooled, but I think he takes classes at a local CC. What I don’t understand is how he’s not going to run out of classes there or bust his unit cap when he goes to a real college.

Are any of you thinking about doing Siemens/Intel ISEF/applying to RSI next year? I’m really excited, because I really love working on my project. Even if it doesn’t win anything, it’ll have been a fun experience.

aigiqinf: Wow, I admire how you managed to take 12 online classes. That must take a lot of dedication and discipline. Good luck this summer! :]

DataBox explain to me how you do it…plz

and yea…RSI is a crapshoot for anyone. I got rejected. the % rate is like 4%

no offense, but I think tsubomi1993 looks more impressive. DataBox comes off as a little arrogant and unfocused and resume-obsessed to be honest. Maybe its just nj pride though :)

@tsubomi: probably applying to rsi, probably not getting in :p

IMHO, DataBox seems MUCH more impressive than tsubomi in all respects, come on just take a look at some of the national/international awards he has won…maybe it’s just because both of you are korean? lol jk

(also, tsubomi seems to be engaging in quite a bit of self promotion)

but seriously, you can’t make any such conclusions off of class schedules koreapride…

Guys, could you please stop comparing us based off of class schedules? You come off quite ignorant actually koreanpride, considering that you don’t know me and saying that I’m unfocused, arrogant, and resume-obsessed based off of a couple of posts is a pretty rash conclusion. Although I don’t know tsubomi, I think it’s safe to say that he’s an ambitious and hard working sophomore that will do well, but these comparisons are rather useless. Thanks for totally dissing and dismissing me koreanpride, it says quite a bit about your own character =)

Ok

 1. @ DataBox: i’m a girl.
 2. You don’t know my stats, and like DataBox says, you can’t judge me off of just my schedule. @ Allexas: just because I haven’t posted my entire resume on collegeconfidential, does that necessarily mean I am devoid of awards. I’m not trying to make myself look more impressive or anything, I am simply pursuing what I like to do.
 3. I don’t really think it is fair to say I am engaging in self-promotion - I’ve only posted a couple times! I posted my schedule, which is similar to a lot of CCers. I responded to peoples’ questions and asked some of my own. If you want, you can pm me exactly where you feel I have been overly self-promoting, because if that is what you think, I apologize for giving you a negative impression. This thread seemed to be full of sophomores with similar interests, and I thought their advice and input would be beneficial. Did I ever asked to be compared? No. Do I think comparing and judging people after a couple posts online is accurate at all? No.

My apologies. Anyways let’s stop with the comparing and mindless mudslinging.

LET’s DO SOME CONTRASTING!!!

Well everyone was saying how DataBox was so much better than tsubomi, and that sort of wasn’t cool…Besides @Allexas, you say that you shouldn’t compare people based on schedules, then you go on to say how DataBox is much more impressive just after seeing this one girl’s schedule…you don’t know what else she does. besides, she definitely doesn’t come off as self-promoting. I like ThisCouldBeHeavn’s idea.

It’s interesting that you continue to want to compare the two even when both have told you to stop, I totally agree with DataBox, you come off as ignorant. And also you are saying that tsubomi is much more impressive than DataBox just based off of a schedule, frankly, you’re quite the hypocrite. You’re saying that she is more focused than him without even knowing her ec’s, I fail to understand the reasoning. Leave the two of them alone and don’t compare or contrast…work on bettering yourselves.

And yes she did seem semi self promoting when she started announcing all of the AP exams she will have taken and asked everyone else for theirs. In any case, why don’t we end this rather useless discussion?

You also said she was less impressive than someone after just seeing her junior year schedule, just glancing at their posts makes it SEEM like she’s more focused on certain activities. Of course, I can’t tell for sure because I don’t know either of them personally.

I want to know what other APs other sophomores are taking also. How are her questions different than the questions other people ask. She doesn’t come off as any more self-promoting than any of the other posters here. Besides, she’s complimenting others and just asking questions. I don’t get why you’re accusing her of being self-promoting.

Contrasting like ThisCouldBeHeavn said would be interesting because it would point out the differences between the two and distinguish them as individuals.

Has anyone else noticed tsubomi and DataBox are chill about this? allexas and koreapride, leave them alone. tsubomi doesn’t have her stats posted, but I’m guessing they’re probably good, and Allexas shouldn’t say that she’s less impressive than DataBox just by knowing her junior year schedule. Also, tsubomi doesn’t give me the impression of being self-promoting at all. Similarly, koreapride shouldn’t say that she’s more focused than DataBox based on a couple posts with their activities and stuff. They both look like hard-working, intelligent sophomores, but they’re both different people. Contrasting them would show some differences, but Allexas and koreapride need to both chill out. They’re BOTH being ignorant.

tsubomi and DataBox both seem like nice people, not arrogant at all. A friend of mine knows tsubomi and he says she is really nice, and has great stats, but is chill and not “self-promoting”. They’ll probably both succeed and get into amazing schools.

^Tru dat holmes amen

Can’t we all just get along?

I agree. koreapride and allexas, go away. this isn’t a DataBox vs. tsubomi thread, and I don’t think either of them want that. rock on tsubomi and DataBox. Class of 2011 pwnage. Go make us proud. :p

@tsubomi: how did you manage to get involved in Columbia? I live sort of close, and I was looking for different opportunities. Plus, it’s one of my dream schools.

cbisascam is right, people.
I think we should start giving compliments to each other and give beneficial advice about our schedules instead of comparing DataBox and tsubomi ( I know they are both hard-working and intelligent, but they are DIFFERENT  )

Guys. Can we talk about something else that isn’t schedule-related?

^ Yeah. DataBox seems more into math/politics while tsubomi seems more into music, physics, and engineering. They both seem smart and will probably excel in the fields they enter.

@ DataBox or tsubomi, you both have really intense schedules next year…since you both have experience taking post-AP physics and math classes, would you say its a lot of extra work and hard to manage? Or do you think it’s better to focus on APs and not take a college class until senior year?
