Official Unofficial Class of '11 Thread

^I heard AP Statistics was easy, so you might want to take that. I can’t say anything for AP Economics though:/

this might be old, by why are the 2012 losers trying to get on our jock. lol (i hope someone actually knows what “jock” means)

^I don’t know what that means lol, sorry:(

everyone has sooo many ap classes! I only have one… and one honors. But I don’t think i can take more.

^I know! Honor classes are weighted at my school but I didn’t know they weren’t at others:/ Does anyone know if colleges will adjust my GPA to make it so I don’t have my weighted honors grades included?

^ i think there’s an objective grading scale they use since so many schools have different systems. but of course, they’ll always look at your gpa within the context of your classes, so it’s obviously not a detriment.

^That’s nice to hear. I am taking an equal number of honors and AP classes so I want colleges to consider that. Thank you!:>

BUMPPP

So has anybody started school yet?

If so, I feel REALLY bad for you, but how is being a junior so far?

I start in 2 weeks! Wish I had 3+ more weeks of summer, not ready to work again! :(

How is everybody fairing that has started?

that suckksss! our school doesn’t start till september! so nervous. can you believe we have 2 years of high school left?

Wow, your lucky haha! I’m actually kinda nervous about that as well, I mean we are nearly adults (legally speaking lol). I mean, once we move on to college, then we are one step from having full-time jobs. We basically have no time left for kid stuff! :o

I know, it’s crazy. Mine doesn’t start till September either.

Time is running out majorly lol! I used to visit these boards so much a few years ago. I was obsessed with Ivy League schools…now I am so much more laid back! I have no clue what I want to do with my life, but I am ok with it! What about you?

And then everyone goes on about AP. IB DIPLOMA here! wooo!

I know, we are like on round-the-clock for next 1.5 years, then chillax last part of senior year. Our highs chool years are essnetially done as we know it haha! I’m starting to feel old, and almost wish I could turn back the clock a bit. I just found about these boards in April, but I haven’t posted as much I guess lately. I’m still a bit frantic about college admissions, have been since like 8th grade lol! Actually, a bit more frantic now since I really have no more time to boost a college app it seems like!

I think I know exactly what I want to do: biomedical engineering (most likeyl obtain a masters, then maybe law school). I have been in love with Brown University for years now, I wish I was goign there in a few weeks. Haha, I still like the Ivies, but now I now my list for reaches/matches I think.

Have you thought about life/college plans at all? Perhaps a general field of interest?

I went through the whole business/lawyer and most recently medical degree. Then there was the international relations phase…I have so many interests! I think I might even want to do just dabble in careers for a few years. Like a social worker or psychologist maybe. Or with education…too many choices!

yeah it seems like 8th grade was just last year and I had all these grand plans for high school. Now I have like one passion/EC and one place where I will be volunteering so it’s like yikes! Brown is such an amazing school. They have this awesome program where you can do undergrad/med in 7yrs!

Then I go to all the college acceptances boards and everyone is like…rejected! How do you feel about your ECs/awards/etc?

Wow, that covers so many differnet bases! At least you can adapt to any career lol, I can’t!

I know, these last few years have completely flown by, dang! Brown is just perfect IMHO lol, and I truly want to go there! I actually know somebody in the combined 7 year program,he loves it! My mom siad it used to be a 6 year program, yay :]

It’s like 10% acceptance rate now, so I am a little worried. I have legacy status, hope it helps a lil’ bit!

My ECs/Awards:

Haha, that’s all of I can think of as far as awards are concerned lol. I’m obviously not putting all of that down, will naroow to like 3 things, but those are my options! What’s your ECs/awards?

My list is way too long, and in the end you only get to put down like 7 things. In any case, I don’t want to be googled.

^lol good idea retaining privacy. I’m only going to use like 4 at most probably.

My EC’s/Awards

Science Olympiad Co-Founder/President (Hopefully going to do well this year)
Academic Decathlon A Starter (Again, hoping to do well)
Model UN VP
Student Government Student Council Member
Interact Club (Community Service)
MOON VP (Math Team)
Robotics (Co-Head Programmer, hoping to do well at nationals this year)

AMC 10 School Winner
Gold Medal for National Latin Exam, Level 1
Silver Medal for National Latin Exam, Level 2
Bronze Medal for National Spanish Exam, Level 2
Honorable Mention for school science fair for two year (could go to regionals, but I was travelling with Robotics both times)

For EC’s, out of the above, I would put MOON, Science Olympiad, Academic Decathlon, Robotics, and Model UN.
For awards, probably the highest level of latin exam, the AMC, and the science fair.

I’m kinda nervous for next year since it’s like the most important academic year of high school. I still have to finish my APUSH summer work. I’m worried that I won’t be able to juggle my APs, SATs, SAT2s, ACT prep, class tests altogether. I also want to experiment with new clubs this year because for the past couple of years I haven’t been that serious about finding new clubs and becoming dedicated to those. Hopefully I can turn it around this year. Honestly, this site has been such a motivating force for me this summer and has given me a lot of valuable tips/info!

Good luck guys! :)
