Extracurriculars:
-Foreign languages (9-12)
Description: This is a HUGE thing for me; I’ve passed internationally recognized language proficiency tests like the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, DALF, and DELE to confirm my fluency in Chinese, French, and Spanish. I’m now concentrating on picking up German and will serve as a tutor for the foreign language department.

-Math (9-12)
Description: I was a Math Club member in grades 9-10, got nominated to take the AMC 10 both years of high school [this is given to the top 20% of all math students], will join Mu Alpha Theta, and am now trying to qualify for the AIME.

-Literary activities (10-12)
Description: I served as editor-in-chief for my middle school newspaper in grade 8, but wasn’t able to continue this as my high school newspaper became a course that had to be taken. I served as a staff editor of the literary magazine this past year, and since I’ve now transferred to a new school where newspaper is no longer a course, I plan to rejoin.

-Piano (9-12)
Description: I received my ABRSM Diploma in Music Performance for Piano this year, and will likely be entering music festivals/competitions in Michigan.

That’s about all I can think of. Looking at all the chance threads here on CC, my achievements don’t really seem that outstanding anymore, lol.

1 - English 11
2 - Art II (looking into architectural engineering, so this is a relavent class - not a slack off period)
3 - American Government (blahh…stupid required crap)
4 - Spanish II (poque somos idiotos)
5 - Trigonometry (next year will be AP calc)
6 - Advanced CAD
7 - Physical Conditioning (for football & track)
8 - Chemistry

As far as my EC’s go:

Football (9-12). Team Captain last year

Track (9-12).

Student Council (11-12)

FBLA (11-12)

Community Service Hours - around 100 - still adding

Have raced stock cars for 4 years - brining home 26 top 3 finishes and 2 track championships. Numbers are continuing to climb and I’m in the chase for another championship this summer.

There’s more, but I’m too lazy to list them ;)

I wanted to bring this thread back now that it’s getting time for school to start. How much summer work does everyone have? How much prep. have you done for PSAT/SAT prep?

I’ve done a little more summer work from the last time I posted, haha. Still have 1/3 more of Grapes of Wrath and still have to read The Time Traveller’s Wife, as well as 8 chapters of Latin. That’s it though. I feel as though I should’ve done some SAT prep, but I haven’t had time. I may do some a week before school.

Oh, and my class periods are around 50 mins., but the 4/5 and 7/8 are half periods combined together due to lunch, so it’s a little confusing when you first learn it. Technically, there are only 7 actual class periods in the day, as well as lunch.

Hopefully everyone gets everything done:) I start school tomorrow! I’m beginning to feel apprehensive. I’m not even sure if I’m on the attendance sheet for a few classes, or if I’m going to have to make up summer homework for a class I just switched into:/ I suppose I will see. I find it interesting that some people have 8 to 9 classes. At my school we only have 6 and an optional 7 if you choose to come an hour early.

Freshman Initiation was today. Basically the everyone ran around and dumped green and silver glitter on all the freshies at 12:34. Great fun. They are going to be covered for quite some time, it didn’t seem like the plan had been leaked to any of them beforehand.

Our courtyard is rather festive because of it, but oh well, ha ha!

I started school Aug. 3 and I’ve been cast in a play that we will perform at one-act competition. I want to start doing SAT prep and applying for scholarships. I want to go to USC so I have to get focused.

We’re only allowed five classes a year - as much as I’m jealous of people who have a lot more options for classes (I take two languages, so I can’t even take every core class each year), I don’t know whether I could handle that workload, so props and all that. And hey, I definitely can’t complain about not having to take history and science every year, eek.

I hope everyone who started today had good first days! We start in a couple weeks. . .no idea how I’m going to get my AP work done, haha. I guess it’s good prep for junior year, though.

School starts Sept. 2nd for me, and I have about 250 pages left of my AP gov book :(. I’m down the shore now and I really need to get some of this done , so Im gonna go read about 20 more pages. I am gonna read 45 pages per day and get it done before school starts.

I am bogged down by AP Bio work and AP Eng work.
I’m wayy nervous for this year. I have my SAT’s coming up (major pressure) and along with that, an ACT in January. A bunch of SAT II’s and AP’s on top of that. I just want to fly by this year. Plus I have to go and join a couple of clubs, juggle a job, and volunteer at the hospital. Can’t wait:)
