^That’s a bummer:( I would have taken Latin, but my school doesn’t offer it. I’m ok with Spanish though:> I forgot to post this: I don’t know what I want to major in or what college I want to go to. However, I think I will apply to the UCs.

I have to write a 3 pg essay, a 5 pg essay, nine one page summaries on nine 20+ page short stories… umm…go to elitches for physics and record some stuff and do some math… read three chapters for history, and a 110 page book talking about culture… three pages for each and do four pages of calc review… AHH!

Oh yeah… AND two semester finals for precalc… plus all the homework for the year… mosrtly done though… the tests are on aug 11th… I hope I pass so I can go into calc.

^Sorry:< I know what you mean, in addition to my four essays, I have to read 6 books, along with some other assignments! I think I am going to spend the whole day before school working on everything. O wait, I can’t do that, we have to turn them in before school starts, no! Sorry for my ranting everyone:)

^^Ouch, that sounds very painful. It’s sad to think there’s so much work over the summer when we have junior year ahead of us.

^I agree. Last Summer I didn’t have any homework:)

@Harambee, I have to read the Scarlett letter too! But luckily all we have to do with the book is write 3-4 pg summary double spaced.

^If you are still on this site when you are done, let me know how it is:> I was thinking of reading that for fun.

No IB program :(

We can take classes online and with the community college… but community college classes now have to be math/science and we have to pay for textbooks+activity fees. So I’m taking 2 college classes each semester Junior year, 2 APs online, and 1 honors class at my physical school… oh and the 2 summer classes that get added to my junior transcript and make it look like it was harder than it was. lol

^lol, well I guess that works out for you then:) My school doesn’t allow us to get credit for AP classes outside of school, too many people were taking them! lol

I’m going to be the senior going, “Why am I the only one in Multivariable calculus here… when 40% of the people at my school want to be engineers and I want to be in philosophy?”

It’s actually ironic because I was rejected by a science/math magnet school and swore I would give up math/science. Then the rules changed and now I’m forced to take all these advanced math/science courses. If I was meant to be in math/science I don’t think I could get a better sign…

^That is ironic. Do you really want to major in philosophy? I would suggest to do whatever you enjoy regardless:)

Well there are no real jobs in philosophy, particularly not for those from mid-tier schools. If I get into UChicago by some miracle I’m pretty sure I can do a 4 year BA/MA program. I will have like 68 hours of transferable credit when I graduate from high school, which UChicago won’t accept but my state schools will. If I don’t get into UChicago, I’m really hoping to get into my flagship (which isn’t that easy) and double major in Chemistry and Philosophy with a minor in math. Either way I’ll probably be focusing on philosophy of science and some kind of identity/futurism quasi-philosophy. Probably not smart enough to make a real difference in any field…

But of course, who knows, I could end up majoring in underwater basket-weaving. At least I know I’m not going to my CC after high school… I will have already been there. :p

^That’s true:) I think it helps to double major in a few things. I like humanities but to be honest, I don’t think I will find much in the professional field with that. Therefore, I think I will major in something like English in addition to something like engineering, that will put me in a better job placement. Of course that’s a biased opinion, but that’s my take on it:>

I’ve been discussing career options with my parents… Wow, I have a lot of high standards lol. What job pays well, with pay that keeps on increasing, is relatively low-stress, yet is exciting and interesting?? XD

^I would say a doctor, but that is stressful. Maybe an investment broker? You could always start your own business:)

i have to read this miserable book for AP gov, “in our defense” by caroline kennedy. BLECH

^I’ve never heard of it. Is it that bad?

You guys, what should I take next year? AP Economics or AP Statistics? I have to choose one.

Which one interests you the most?

I don’t even know, haha. Both seem equally interesting to me. Neither relates to what I want to do in college, which is English.
