Um…no 0.o

O ok, well I know some schools do so I thought I’d ask. Sorry:/ Do you live near any of them? Maybe you could take a tour.

I’ve never heard of one…but anyway…

Well, most of them are within driving distance but there’s not much to choose from in any state. I’m happy with my 4… though I might apply to Duke for the heck of it. I’m thinking I won’t tour any schools until I get my decision letters.

O really? Wow, maybe it’s just my old school that did…how weird.

Anyway, you definitely should:) O ok, well I suppose that’s what I’d end up doing as well. Unless I randomly decide I want to apply ED somewhere, in which case it would probably be a good idea to tour the school before I commit to it haha

Junior year is not as fun as I thought it would be.

O really? Good luck then! Somehow I think that half of the people who get NMF/NMSF are on this website haha, which I suppose makes sense.

ughhh ):

bogged down with a bunch of apush stuff… haven’t started studying for the psat at allll ):

Somehow I don’t think you need to lol, didn’t you say you got a 2200 on the SAT without studying?

We did a PSAT English practice thingy in English today. And I have a 30/50. All of those dumb which part of the sentence is wrong thing messes me up a lot. But I don’t really think I can get National Merit anyways, since the cutoff is something like 216 where I live. And really, last time I got a 166. So… not going to happen.

^Yes, I think I’m giving up the whole NMSF dream. O well, it was nice while it lasted:) I’ll just do the best I can.

Can someone explain the whole National Merit thing? I took the PSAT last year as a sophomore and got 226, and I’m obviously taking it again this year, but being the clueless person I am I’m not even sure what National Merit is and how it works.

And also, can you guys list your dream schools and stuff? I’m just curious… Personally I like to think about my dream colleges when the going gets tough and I just want to SLEEP… It motivates me to work harder :D

My list so far: Barnard College, Scripps College, NYU

Another question! (Wow… three questions in a row, sorry) You know how some colleges require guidance counselor recommendations? Well I’ve only talked to my guidance counselor a couple times and it was pretty much just about schedule changes; am I the only person in this situation? Or does everyone else regularly meet with their counselors or something… o_o

My guidance counselor is AWFUL. Last year she didn’t even sign me up for any of the electives I signed up for, and then was not very friendly (or felxible) when I went in to get an elective on my schedule. I ended up taking an elective I didn’t even sign up for, and it was AWFUL, so I finally went to my principal to try and get it switched and he found me one (that my guidance counselor previously told me I couldn’t take) that wasn’t what I picked, but was still less awful.

I’ve been trying to switch for two years, but I can’t because it’s assigned in alphabetical order.

my guidance is fine. i dont really talk to her except for picking wat classes i should take. i dont think anyone actually meets up with their guidance counselor just to talk… or maybe that’s just me and my school lol

Hey ok so this is so off topic - but do are there any slogans out there for class of 2011?! I’m a class officer and need to think of some stuff, lol. What do some of your schools use?

^Why do you need a slogan? My old school would just shout 011 at the top of their lungs at rallies. I’m glad I left that lol
^^^^I don’t really know my counselor either. I’ve only heard his voice before haha
I think they just give you a standard recommendation. Maybe they look at your grades too for influence.

new and improved,011
011 (oh-one-one) the most fun?
two thousand and eleven better than 07?
not 911, 011
sorry i just couldn’t help thinking of lame ones.

^ Wartsandall, I agree. I think it’s time for me to just focus on doing the best I can and not obsessing over National Merit. haha.

I can’t believe PSATs are a week from tomorrow. I MUST study more! :)

i should study- but i’ll sleep then wake up to study.
