peregrination = movement!!

Thanks everyone, though I’m sure the answer was 200 books for the poet. You do get 450 for the total, but you need to subtract 40, because 40 people bought a copy of both books.

@dogers01: I agree, I think it was complex and intricate (what you said :))

@f1yin9hi9h: Yes, I think the answer was peregrination = movement. The only reason I got this right is because of the root “peregrin-”, similar to the peregrine falcon, which flies over 400 miles at a time without rest, hence, moves great distances. :)

Also, about the friend question: I was wrong, I guess the answer is agitated after all.

Gotcha. Guess I got that wrong then. :o

Assuming I got 3 wrong (this, integer subset, and a=2, b=3), what’s my ballpark? 700ish?

Typically, each math question incorrectly answered results in an approximate 20-30 point drop in your score. So I’d say about 710-740, which is not bad. :)

whoa -3 alone puts you that far into the 700s?

@katamari I’d say around 710. maybe 690, depending on the curve (:

and I know that this will probably cause groans and moans, I’d really like to bring up the a=2 b=3 question again…cause with the whole contrapositives and stuff, “in mathematics and in logic, the contrapositive is always guaranteed to be true, as long as the original proposition is true.” So according to that, if you assume “if a=2 then b=3” is true, you can also assume “if b=/=3 then a=/=2” is true as well…

I don’t exactly know what to say for this question, other than this: if b = 6, there’s nothing say a can’t be 2. However, once we get to the stage of a being 2, then by definition b must be 3, which is negated because b = 6 right?

The subset and a/b question have been beaten to death already so I’m just assuming I got those wrong no matter what my answer is.

The contrapositive rule only applies if the problem states if and only if.

@ameya that’s what my brain thought during the test.

@kata Haha I just really want to figure those out.
but that’s actually completely unnecessary cause “if a=2 then b=3” states the same thing as “if and only if a=2 then b=3” either way, if b=6, then it a=2, then b will equal 3, which contradicts what the pregiven condition is.

any of you remember the writing questions?

@SirDan Hi again x) There was the one with the Australian peak and the more beautiful than at other times. and I don’t knwo if this was mentioned, but the jaguar having more melanin as opposed to/compared to/than that of/etc the leopard ?

If you guys have Test Form B, i posted a thread on about 15 writing questions!!!

I believe more beautiful should be most beautiful.
uhmm I can’t remember exactly what I put for the jaguar question… maybe compared to…

I believe the Australian Rock question was “more beautiful than at other times” because it’s a direct comparison to “other times” rather than a general statement about its overwhelming beauty, which would require “most”. With regard to the leopard question, I think it was “than do”, because they were talking directly about the leopard rather than its glands that produce melanin or whatever. Also, there was one like “Neither the manager nor the employees were able to explain to our satisfaction”…that was it, right? “to our satisfaction”?

more beautiful to most
for panther i put than do

I put to our satisfaction but I was debating between that and the choice for our satisfaction

wait so did the question ask if a=2 then b=3? or was it just a=2 b=3?

@smoochumkisses: I agree 100%.

@SirDan: I believe that is correct. The idiomic phrase that goes with “satisfaction” is “to”. Try rewriting the phrase in doubt in a different way. “To my satisfaction, I made $100.” See that? BOOM. :)

it was if-then

@ameyzing
i put more, and on the panther one, i chose the answer with “do” in it
cant remember the satisfaction one
