Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

isn’t your ACT/SAT scores on your high school transcripts? I think mine were but the schools still wanted to see an official copy to make sure they matched up. so regardless if u send them in or not i think they will still see it if they are looking at ur high school transcript.

@BlackRose21: Your right, those scores are on your HS transcript!

If you feel like your test scores will hurt you AND it’s not mandatory for you to send them in, then don’t. BUT, someone who does send in their scores might have an edge over you, in my opinion.

@CluelessBelle

Yeah I agree with you. I think that the person that sends them in would have some kind of edge just because they can see if that person has improved from that test score and high school transcripts. If you had a low test score and high school GPA but are doing really well in college and have a high GPA then they can see the upward climb of improvement in your GPA. But I really wouldn’t stress too much on it. If you signed up to take it again take it and than just focus on the rest of your upcoming classes and stuff for your application. :)

does anyone want to edit my personal essay? :]

@ hajypajy
I’ll edit it for you if you want. You want me too just give you feedback and look at grammar errors right? Just PM if you want me to look at it. :)

Hello everyone,

I remember last year they had a first part to the app that was due early, and then a second part due on Feb 1.

When is/was the first part due?

Thanks

No first part from here on out, they switched to the common app so they no longer have part 1 and part 2 to save money. Just one whole app due on February 1st.

Is anyone here planning on taking winter session? If so, how are you planning to send in your transcripts?

I’m thinking I should just send these transcripts after Fall and then another after Winter. I guess that would make the most sense. =</p>

@goussc92: Winter session grades are listed under Spring 2012 grades on your transcript. So when you send your transcript, it should list your Fall 2011 grades, then your in progress 2012 grades, plus the completed grade for your Winter session course.

@CluelessBelle: Ok, sweet! Thanks for letting me know! So glad I don’t have to spend double the cash. =]

@gousc92: Lol, just double check with your school to make sure. I don’t know if ALL schools do that

ugh man I don’t know rather I should apply or not. I messed up this semester due to my family problems now I have a 3.0 gpa this semester but I’m pretty sure next semester I can pull a 4.0 due to the classes I’m taking, so wouldn’t that bring my gpa to a 3.5 at least? Idk…

@Cluelessbelle: I will be sure to when I come back from break.

@Uptownmalik101: What major were you looking at?

@gousc92 I plan on doing the Music Industry (B.S)

@uptownmalik101: I think you should go for it. I’m assuming you’re in the Film school which, although competitive, leaves you ample opportunity to explain your situation on your app as well as the supplement. Don’t knock yourself out without trying, there are many people who’ve gotten in with worse stats.

@Uptownmalik101: You should definitely explain your circumstances to them, if you don’t mind being really open.

Hey guys, I have a question… I just dropped one of my major classes. But to fulfill that gap of units, I am taking 2 extra G.E’s which I need. I was wondering would it look bad If I take a good amount of G.E’s in which I don’t need more to take to fulfill my credits to 60? I need 60 by spring, and I was wondering that if I’m a little short of it, can I just take extra gen ed classes to fulfill that? let me know! thanks!

how would you go about explaining your circumstances to the school if you hadnt received the grades that youve been striving for? for example, i dont wanna give a sob story and sound irritating or that im begging them per say. but i feel like i want my voice to be heard for sure. i just dont know whats appropriate or not. exampless?

Just wondering, but since the fall semester is coming to an end, I just wanted to ask, is anybody starting to have second about applying?

I’ll be honest, due to my calculus grade, I’m starting to, especially since I’ll be applying as an aerospace engineering major. That, and I doubt my GPA will be good enough, although the transfer counselor from Viterbi told me that USC has admitted applicants with under a 3.0 before.

@jumbo11: The course that you dropped, is it going to show as a ‘W’ on your transcript?

@Gratification: Lol, I’m not having second thoughts anymore; I figured I might as well just go for it, I have to stop doubting myself at some point.
It does looks a little iffy to have a ‘bad’ grade in a major class, but who knows what the admissions officers will think about it. Is your gpa currently below a 3.0?
