^ I know it helps me, haha, thanks for that! My test scores were TERRIBLE!

Hello transfer applicants!

I like to pop in here in January to give all of you a “heads up” about the financial aid deadline for transfer applicants. Your deadline is the “new student” deadline of FEBRUARY 2, 2012. Yes, only ONE day after your applications are due!

The terminology is sometimes confusing because you are not “new” students in that you are already attending college, but your are “new” to USC in that you have not yet attended USC. Hopefully that makes sense.

You must submit BOTH the CSS/Profile AND the FAFSA by that date, and then provide copies of parent and student tax returns by March 2nd, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Good luck!

Does USC want transcripts by Feb 1st too?

How are you guys entering grades? In the academic section? We only enter “Current Year Courses”? Common app is so confusing compared to UC app

@blackmamba

I’m actually unsure about that as well. As of right now I’m gonna just assume they want the transcripts in by February 1st.
Similar to your question, does the app want us to submit are courses from just are 2011 year, or are classes in progress during the spring

If you guys are referring to the Academic Section in the supplemental you don’t need to fill that out. It’s only required for first year applicants.

I also remember seeing this on here, only your application needs to be in by Feb 1. If I recall correctly as long as your transcripts, LORs, etc are posted marked by Feb 1 then you guys are fine.

Hey guys, do any of you know if USC allows transfers to defer admission for one semester? I haven’t gotten in, but if I should, I might have to stay at home for an extra semester due to personal reasons (Which I wont go in to, but I hope can be a valid excuse)

can anyone help me by reading one of my supplementary essays? thanks a lot yo :D

I’m a total science major, so I may not be the one to ask for spelling/grammatical errors. But I’d be more than willing to just read it and offer my opinion haha

I’m just starting on my essay and I’m a little lost I’m thinking of applying as undeclared so I don’t really know what to say… is it basically a “why USC?” essay?
Also, for the short answer on the supplement, should I emphasize “why USC?” again since I’m applying as undeclared?

Hey guys! On the common app, do we need to complete the school forms? its the last box on the common application and I"m a bit confused

@ScGal12

Nope as transfer applicants were not required to fill out those forms. Just for freshman applicants

who wants to read my main common app essay? i guess you don’t have to go in depth with editing, just feedback on how the flow of the writing is would be good enough. muchos graciassss

Though we still have some time, anyone else starting to feel a little pressure with the deadline rapidly approaching haha

^I was just thinking about this today, actually! I wanted to finish all of my transfer applications before I was back at school, but the odds of that happening aren’t too great…

^^As a matter of fact, that was my one goal for Winter Break. Finish my application for USC. Simple enough right? Haha now school is a few weeks away and I’ve yet to finish it haha how far along are you?

I have a question about transferring to USC to pursue a Cinematic Arts degree.

Do I have to apply with 30 credits to be eligible for admission at USC or do I have to apply with 48 credits right away?

^To my knowledge your able to apply with less than 30 units. If you are significantlly below the 30 unit mark they will most likely refer back to your high school transcript. For example if you apply with let’s say 18 units, that is not an adequate assessment of your academic ability so they have no choice but to refer back to your high school performance. Please anyone feel free to correct, this is just simply what I’ve gathered

@Bandit1990 Thanks for your reply. I understand that earning 30 units would have USC focus primarily on my college education. My concern is that, to apply for USC School of Cinematic Arts, a student must have a minimum of 48 transferable credits. My high school grades would not cut it. Hence, why I’m taking classes at a community college.

Should I apply when I have 30 or 48 transferable credits?

^I can not attest to your particular major, as I am not a cinematic arts major, I would personally contact admissions for your specific department. Will you have these 48 units finished prior to attending USC? If you can show them that you will have finished the 48 units, I would assume you’d be fine to apply right now.
