Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

@blackmamba2410: Really? My mistake, then. I didn’t know.

Got it so then we can just walk the transcripts into admission then. And when we turn the transcripts in, do we have to write out USC ID on them or just submit them as they are?

As far as I know, no one has been issued a USC ID yet. You’ll probably receive one once you submit your application but if you’re walking your transcripts in, I’m positive they can better inform you than us on what information you need.

Hello fellow Trojan transfer hopefuls. I just had an important question about the transfer deadline. I’m finishing up my essay right now, but I read in this thread that besides finishing the commonapp, we have to send our transcripts by Feb 1? I just have to know soon as my high school is far away from where I live now. If we have to send it to USC do you guys know the address we have to send it to? Besides the application and the transcripts, is there anything else due in Feb 1? Sorry for the many questions and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I called USC and they told me that transcripts are not due Feb 1st… someone else might want to call and see if they get a different response.

As someone else said on this thread, if the postmark is dated prior to February 1st then we should be fine. Also I was reading through the 2011 transfer thread a while back and remember seeing people still sending their transcript and such through mid April. Honestly I wouldn’t stress over it.

Have any of you guys submitted your application yet? if so, were we supposed to receive some kind of confirmation email that USC received the application?

Did anyone try using the fee waiver?

Hi everyone, I saw the last post and thought I’d comment. I submitted my application for production to USC SCA in october and I didn’t receive an email until mid november telling me they had received it and thanked me for applying. I still haven’t been issued a USC id number either. hope that helps. Also im a transfer undergrad.

I noticed some people have added their school of choice in their personal statement, but on the common app the personal statement will be the same for all school when submitted only difference is the supplement portion which address a different prompt about the school and what you plan to achieve, so I am guessing I should leave out specific school of choice in the personal statement?

I submitted my application couple days ago. I received an e-mail from one school but not from USC. Since the deadline is still like 2~3 weeks later, I’m going to wait and see how it goes. If it doesn’t come until last week of January, I’m going to send an e-mail or call them to see what’s going on.

Also, does anyone know when is a good time to submit the official transcripts?

i studied abroad fall 2011 and won’t receive most of my grades from first semester until about feb-march which obviously wont be postmarked until feb 1st. do you think this is okay?

also, does anyone know where to send the transcripts to?
Like, I know USC’s address, but do I have to put anything else specific? ie;
“Admissions
Los Angeles, CA
blahblah”

I am trying to transfer to USC next year as a sophomore from Northeastern University, I have completed 17 credits in fall and have 16 in progress during winter. I have plenty of EC’s, some prereq’s a 3.63 GPA (hopefully it will raise by the end up winter) and a 1260 on my SAT coming out of highschool, i applied to CLAS and I pray that i get in…what are my chances??

Hey guys,

I’m kind of confused as to the overlapping of the essays on the application.

The essay on the common app is as vague as can be, “reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve.”

The essay on the USC supplement: “Describe your academic interests and how you plan to pursue them at USC.”

And then my major (Animation & Digital Arts) personal statement “should reflect the applicant’s individuality and explain why he or she would like to study animation and digital arts at USC.”

They are all nearly identical prompts and I will likely be talking about the same things in all of them. I have already finished my major personal statement (I think the most important one), do you think it would be wrong to do a little copy and pasting on the other ones, or try to write about the same things again?

Also, in the first common application personal essay, are you supposed to make it nonspecific to USC, even though it is the only school I am applying to?

Thanks!

On the application, what do we put for that?

Also, for the secondary school, does that mean our high school?

Just submitted my application today. Time to wait now, yikes! First choice: Communication; second: Art History. Now, I just need to have my professor send his letter of rec and then fetch my college and high school transcripts.

I’ve submitted my supplement and paid. I haven’t submitted my entire application yet.

I am BEYOND nervous.

@DJpsu2015: Did you get any email confirmation from USC?

@gousc, Don’t be! If you already got everything down and made sure it’s complete, just do it. I’m getting way too busy to be filling out this application, so I knew that I just had to get it done with. I only had one professor read over my essay. He said it was very sincere and good, so I added a couple of other things here and there.

I can’t imagine reading over my essay again, seriously. I worked on it since November and if I look at it anymore, i’m going to go nuts. The only thing that was weird was the supplement short answer where it asks you to how you plan on carrying your interests at USC. I felt like my common app essay summed it up, so I just write three or four sentences of how I plan to get involved there.

I haven’t gotten a confirmation that they received it, but I got my receipt from the common app saying that the fee and transaction went through successfully.

I just remembered that I need to fill out my FAFSA, as well…

I truly wish the best to all. Hope we all get in and see each other there!

@ DJpsu2015: That’s great. Wish you all the best. I need to finish mine this weekend. But I’m kind of freaking out because I didn’t realize how fast the deadline was approaching. lol Also its not helping that I keep switching my mind between my first and second choice. Do you think if I called or e-mailed an advisor that they would be able to better help me?
