@xjasonhox: Also, I believe your college transcripts, if sent in Jan. when you’ve already started your new classes, should usually have your second semester classes listed, so they could probably just get it from that.

Hi,
I’m planning to transfer in as a sophomore, and I was wondering if we can include extra-curricular activities from high school because I don’t have a whole lot since I only have one semester of college done

By the way will USC accept online classes for fulfillment of certain G.E.s like Anthropology or should be a live in person instruction?

Just want to get some clarification: Can we send our high school and community college transcripts online via a website like Docufide (i.e., put down USC as the recipient and the school directly sends the transcript)? Or do we have to send them physically by postal mail?

I want to apply to USC’s SCA for Production but they require at least 48 transferable credits. Can I apply to USC with 30 credits and get accepted first? How does this work?

@facefromLA,

I think including ECs from your high school is fine. I’m involved with about four big, important clubs at my uni right now and I put down the most important ones from high school such as newspaper since I’m currently writing for my college newspaper and I won an award back in high school. If you feel that it means something to you, then put it down by all means. It wont really hurt you; it will only help, really. As for the online class, some classes might work. Have you checked out the USC articulation website? Check out your school here: Error;

It doesn’t really have to fulfill one of those gen eds, but they just recommend it. If it’s on there, then it will transfer over and you’re set.

@kMz,

I wish I can clearly answer that for you, but I’m not sure. I was on the USConnect account and I saw that you can send your transcripts via online. I thought that USC wants the school itself to directly send over the transcript. You should definitely call and ask to get that cleared up.

@glamiex,

If you have at least 30 credits by the time YOU WILL BE (if accepted) ENROLLED AT USC, then you can apply as a transfer without having them weigh your chances on your high school stats. I’m not too sure about SCA for Production, but I was contemplating on applying to either the Critical Studies in SCA or Communication in Annenberg. I ultimately chose Annenberg because I felt that program suited me better. You can definitely apply to a different major and get accepted. It really just depends on your major, so you have to look at the requirements for each. I know for Annenberg, you can apply with 30 credits, but the supplements will vary for each major. For the Dornsife Art History program (my second choice), you don’t even need additional supplements.

If Production is your main goal, but you don’t meet a certain expectation, look into the other SCA majors if you think you can qualify, or look into the other schools and see if any of it interests. Once you’re in, you can attempt to transfer into the SCA.

@glamiex: SCA Production is the only major I believe in SCA that requires over 30 for transfers. Since USC doesn’t have an open Spring semester transfer (unless you’re accepted after applying for fall semester and they sometimes push you over to spring for different reasons) and it’s nearly impossible to acquire 48+ credits within your first year at college without counting APs/credits earned before college, Production is pretty much only able to be transferred into by junior transfers.

But like DJpsu2015 said, you can transfer to another major at USC or within SCA and then, if accepted, attempt an internal transfer (although this is understood to be potentially more difficult than an external) to Production after you’ve done some time under that major.

Hi all,
I am currently a first year student at SMC (Santa Monica Community College) and hope to transfer to USC Marshall next Fall.
I was rejected out of high school with a 3.2 GPA + 1960 SAT Score and given the Trojan Transfer Plan.
I currently have a 4.0 GPA and have completed 26 units including business calc, english literature 2, and nearly every other requirement. I will be taking ~15 more units in the Spring (Science Requirement with Lab, Econ, Accounting and Anthropology).
I have little to no extra curricula’s and that has really started to worry me.
What do you think my chances are of getting in?

dantheman, I think you need at least 60 transferable units before you can transfer to the UC’s. Keep up the good work, and join some clubs or do some volunteer work for EC’s. By the time you complete 60 units, I think your chances are great. Hope that helps.

What if my LoR never arrived to USC? My prof has sent her letter from overseas and I think she sent it out around xmas/new year’s - a hectic time for mail!

I can’t check yet because apparently I need to submit my app so it can be “linked” to my app - and I will soon but they said even so it’ll take 2 weeks to process. So what if I do everything, but my LoR (required for my intended major) just never got there? :/

I also have another worry…
I currently only have one grade on my transcript. It puts me at a very high GPA but it’s only ONE class. The rest are still being figured out (was abroad, it’s taking ages to transfer over officially…) and won’t be in until March. I called but they told me it’s okay to send it in in March.
Can anyone confirm this…? From what I hear, most people have been saying your transcript must be postmarked by Feb 1!

i am at a loss of what to categorize as 100 level, 200 level classes. someone help please!

He’s applying to USC not a UC so there are no unit requirements. As far to @dantheman’s original post, you should be fine. Are you legacy? I’ve noticed throughout the previous threads many applicants who have legacies and are not admitted get put on the Trojan Transfer Plan. If not, then you are still in a great position. Follow the guidelines and you should bet set.

Hey everyone.
I am currently a freshman at UCSB. I am looking to transfer to USC after this year. I will have take 45 quarter units (30 semester units) by the end of the year. I am on the trojan transfer plan and am applying as a business major. My first quarter grades were a 3.66. What do you think my chances of getting in are?

@Mitch I’m a legacy :)

And as for the requirement, there is none really. If you have less than 30 than they will look at your high school transcript as well.
GuitarDreamer, you are right that the UC’s require 60 units… trust me if they accepted anything less I would be transferring to Berkeley right now.

Thanks for the insight though, hopefully I’ll get in!!!

also, for reporting AP scores, should i just not even bother with reporting my scores that I got 3’s on? i’d save a lot of money, too.

I’ve sent in the following things:
-common app
-supplement
-fee waiver request (anyone know about that?)
-HS transcript
-college transcript

-filling out Fafsa this week

Do I need to use any of the school forms? Anything I’m missing? (Besides options LOR)

^ you don’t need to fill out any school forms.

I just faxed my high school to request them to mail my transcript. Everything is officially sent. Now I wait…i’m kind of worried maybe my transcripts might never reach USC…ok, calm down. lol.

Has anyone sent in the CSS Profile yet? I’m still waiting for my parent’s income estimates before I do…it is a VERY agonizing wait!

does anybody know anything about the fee waiver

Hi I had a quick question-- are college transcripts due by Feb 1st? See for one of my classes I got a grade change from a B to an A and my teacher said it would take like a week to process so I dont want to send my transcript in until I have the A on my transcript. And info/ advice someone could give me… I am really concerned. Thanks!
