Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

@comp100: I would say to send what you have, and then when you get the grade, send an updated transcript. I don’t think adcom’s are going to even evaluate the transfer applications for a while, which would give enough time for any updates. A good amount of seniors in high school still have their applications being evaluated, I doubt they’ll get to the transfers for at least a month. I wouldn’t worry about that yet, just send updates as you receive them, I’d say.

If we already applied to USC before (but didn’t get in) we don’t have to send AP and SAT scores again, right? And also, I saw last year’s transfer stats and it seemed like out of state transfers mostly got accepted as spring grade request (can someone tell me what that is?) and in-staters mostly got in…I’m at the University of Michigan right now. Do I have less chances of getting in? And also does the common app short essay have to be about an extracurricular activity like a club or organization? Or can it be something we leisurely do? For example, I wrote mine about tennis (in fact I recycled the exact same response as last year’s common app short essay)

@ danielise: What is that fee waiver request? They dont honor a fee waiver asap like the UC app?

Why does it say 24 hours a day 7 days a week and then on the when part say 2 weeks before deadline?

W2s just came in yesterday for my parents and I was filling it out and I saw that.

Hey everyone.
I am currently a freshman at UCSB. I am looking to transfer to USC after this year. I will have take 45 quarter units (30 semester units) by the end of the year. I am on the trojan transfer plan and am applying as a business major. My first quarter grades were a 3.66. What do you think my chances of getting in are?

Hey Everyone,

I’m trying to transfer for UC Irvine and I’m only a freshmen. Can anybody tell me my chances of getting into Marshall?

~ 3.91 GPA (18 semester units & 16 quarter units)

71 quarter units (fall&winter, APs included, & converted semester units ^)

I’ll have 87 quarter units and another 6 semester units after spring

ECs from high school only (FBLA (awards & leadership positions),
Business Academy, community service, etc.)

Finished all but one GE, but will complete it during spring

Will complete writing requirement during spring

Trojan Transfer Plan

Legacy

The semester units are from classes taken at a CC.

So I just checked my USConnect page, and it appears that they haven’t gotten either of my transcripts. I sent in my high school transcript only a few days ago, so I’m not too worried about that, but I sent in my college transcript electronically a while ago and already received confirmation (from my current university) that it was sent. I assumed that since it was electronic that USC would get my transcript instantly, but it appears not. Should I be worried that they still haven’t received my transcript?

^ The exact same thing happened to me, albeit, different schools. Anyone have any input on the matter?

By the end of Spring 2013 I’ll have 36 credits which is enough for me to transfer and have my college grades be the primary basis for admission. I plan to transfer in Fall 2013 for Production which requires 48 credits. I won’t have enough credits to satisfy SCA’s Production requirements. What are my options if I submit an application in Spring 2013?

How does one do an internal transfer? Wouldn’t that just be more money spent on classes that aren’t connected to your major?

On my USConnect, when I click my application it says that my application can’t be processed at this time. Why is that? Am I the only person that is getting this screen? I sent in my commonapp and my transcripts…

Hey guys, I am in the middle of finalizing my application and would like to know if letters of recommendation are to be sent to this address:

USC Office of Admission
Undergraduate
University Park Campus
Los Angeles, CA
90089-0911

Thanks in advance.

Who the hell is ready to be a TROJAN!??!? WOOHOO!!!

Just to make sure these are the correct materials to be sent in - I have 54 credits right now from a 4 year and applying to Marshall:

All college transcripts
HS transcript
ACT scores
Recommendation letter (optional)

Whats the average ACT for transfers?

dollarbill- If you have 54 credits, they won’t look at your SAT or ACT.

How long is everyone’s short answers? :)

I remember from freshman year, and previous transfer threads there would be a lag time for your USConnect page to update. Therefore you might have received conformation, but it’ll take a week or so for the confirmation to be reflected on USConnect.

@dollarbill

Standardized scores are not required, especially since you have over 30 credits. If it’s at or above the average (check Collegeboard) then I would send it in.

Other than that, those are the only materials you need to send in.

@ScGal12

I used about ~1,400 characters.

CCC procrastinator here. In addition to the Common App + supplement, what else needs to be turned in by the 2/1 deadline?
College AND HS transcripts?
Are the school forms on the Common App required?

Also, how does one create a USConnect account? I made one in July, but cannot access it anymore.

Mitch, how is yours 1400? They won’t let me write more than 1,000, which says it the max on the common app

Also, if my brother is 12, I just need to list his grade level, right?

I thought you meant for the supplemental short response. But yes for the EC short response I used about ~800 characters.
