How long does it take to get a USConnect password?

ADVICE: I’ve tried my best to do everything I could to have a best shot for Marshall business (transfer from private university, OR)
Statistic: GPA 4.0 with 52 credits before spring (some GEs in progress), some extracurricular activities, decent essay (sent SAT math I 730, math II 720: worthless but give it a shot)
UNFORTUNATELY, I got 84 on toefl test (english test for international students) recently (didn’t prepare at all). I asked some admission counsellors & they said that committees don’t base on toefl score to evaluate/ others said that they’re looking for a score of 100.

What do you guys think? I’m feeling so desperate ight now. anyone applying to USC as an international student???

@glamiex: An internal transfer would be if you were already majoring in one thing at a school and then you switched over to something else. The reason this isn’t simply considered changing your major, as some other colleges would call it, is because USC has different expectations and rigid requirements for certain “schools” that their majors are within. Meaning one person who might get into Dornsife college might not get accepted if they applied to, say, Marshall. What you would have to do if you were an English major, for instance, and wanted to be a Film Production major (Dornsife to SCA) is submit an application for acceptance into the School of Cinematic Arts even though you’re already enrolled in USC as a whole. Some say internal transferring is harder (SCA would probably rather take a Production applicant applying from another school than one already in USC), but not definitively. Of course, through minoring and various other things, you could always take certain classes in different schools, but I don’t think you’d be considered majoring unless you were specifically accepted to those schools.

Hi, I have some quick questions

Is there additional paperwork to fill out with the letter of recommendation that my professor needs to fill out? Are the letters also due by Feb 1st?? As in they need to receive it in the mail by then? I don’t think I can make it in time…

Also, do I even need to report my SAT scores on the commonapp? I have over 60 credits and I really don’t want to bother trying to contact collegeboard for their archived old scores from 2008. Can I leave the SAT/ACT scores area blank?

No. Just the LOR, which are optional depending on your major.
They need to be postmarked by Feb 1, but a day or two late shouldn’t hurt you as long as your application is in by the deadline.
Due to your credits you are not required to send your scores in but if they are at or above USC’s freshman standards then it never hurts to send them in.

@MitchAPalooza

Thanks so much for the quick response!!

So on the commonapp am I able to just leave the whole SAT/ACT field blank?

And do I need to tell them my cumulative GPA from highschool?

Just had a quick question for people who know a bit about the process of transferring to USC. I put my major as “Business Administration” as my ultimate goal is to go to USC Marshall. I’m currently a sophomore. I’ve completed precalc/trig and statistics.

If I’m accepted to USC for Fall 2012, would I be accepted to USC (general, to finish prereqs), or am I accepted directly to Marshall…? Sort of confused there.

If you apply for marshall then it means you are gonna be in marshall coming fall. But check you completed all their requirement cus i dont think they requires stat.

If I chose Communications first major, and Undecided or a LAS major for the second, would this mean if I wasn’t accepted to Annenberg, I could be accepted to LAS?

How do we check if USC has received our transcripts? Can we just call in and ask? Also, do transfers have to fill out the secondary education part on the common app?(graduating GPA, class rank etc)

Yes.
This information is not required. If you have it easily available then input it, but as I said it’s not required to list on the CA.

@redwings

You’d be accepted directly into Marshall. Be sure to complete all the prerequisites.

[Transfer Admissions | USC Marshall School of Business](<a href=“Home - USC Marshall”>Home - USC Marshall)

Yes. Looking back at past threads, there were applicants who were accepted as their second choice major.

Give them about a week or so to process the materials. I would then call. They’ll probably tell you that if you’re missing something they’ll contact you.

No not required but if you know it then it doesn’t hurt to fill it out.

Do you guys have a title for your personal essay?

who is procrastinating like me and isn’t finished with their personal essay?

Thanks Mitch!

Are these the Marshall prereqs?

WRIT 140
MATH 118 or higher
ECON 251

It lists the above on one part of the USC website, then on another it says:

“Prerequisites for direct admission to the Marshall School of Business:
Writing 130 (Analytical Writing) and MATH 118 (Fundamental Principles of Calculus.)
MATH 125 may be substituted for MATH 118”

LazyPig- I’m almost done, so nervous! How many words is yours going to be?

ScGal12- Yeah im almost done too. Im trying to keep it at 600! you?

redwings532- is econ 251 really a requirement for marshall? i thought it was only WRIT 140 and MATH 118…

@LazyPig - It looks like it’s just WRIT 140 and MATH 118. I had no idea math 118 was a requirement either haha looks like I gotta sign up for that asap.

It also says that MATH 125 can be substited for MATH 118.

@lazy

I finished the supplemental essay but haven’t started on my generic “Why Transfer” essay. I’ve been putting it off for weeks now.

redwings532- whew… i would be *****ed if econ 251 was a requirement -_-

mitch- haha i feel you. I barely started a couple days ago. But i bsed my supplemental essay. just wanted to get over with it.

@LazyPig me too. I should be LazyPig2.
