Dose anyone know when the first wave of decisions are sent out? I heard the earliest is late this month. Any ideas?

What are we supposed to put in the “Current Year Courses” field on the bottom of the Academics tab in the Common App?

Do they want current year as in 2012 or 2011-2012 school year?
Should I put the winter class that I am currently taking in “First Semester” and planned spring classes in “Second Semester”? Or My fall 2011 classes in “First” and planned spring in “Second”?

Does anyone know how they treat transfer credits not specified on the articulation agreement? Two of my classes are not on the articulation history and I only have 31 credits. >.< Wish I would have thought about that before.

@encgdr: I put fall in first semester and Spring in second semester

@kagw11: what kind of course are they? Are they short term like winter or regular courses? Did you get a D or higher?

Is it harder for out of staters to get in? I saw a thread and so many out of staters were rejected or given Spring Grade Request. Btw what is spring grade request?

@msrv99: A SGR (Spring Grade Request) is what colleges will send you when they want to see your grades for Spring semester. The reason a lot of sophomore transfers get it is because they usually haven’t completed the bare requirements (ie. 2 semesters of writing, 30 transferrable units), and USC needs to confirm that they have completed those requirements. The junior transfers are less likely to get SGR’s because most of them have already completed the requirements in their previous 3 semesters.

What did you guys name your titles? I’m having a hard time thinking of one!!

@encgdr: I put fall in first semester and Spring in second semester

What about for those of you to are taking winter classes?

I just submitted my USC application and I just realized that they have School Forms.

Do these School Forms apply to CC transfer students?

@Akylahunter school forms do not apply to CCC transfers.

@SCGal: I didn’t title mine.

TBH, I really don’t think it’s a dealbreaker. They will be more concerned with the quality of the essay. If it is poorly done, even the most amazing title won’t save it.

@msrv99

USC is a private institution. State residency is not taken into account.

Can us transfers quality for the College Board fee waiver?

@encgdr, thx for your reply and also do I need to sent them my High School transcript because I haven’t got a chance to do that.

So i just submitted my application and paid for it as well but i am worried about this on the common app, It is under payments in my other colleges

“For students paying application fees by credit card: please note that the processing of a credit card fee may take 1-2 days to reflect with the Common App Online. This college will not receive your application until your fee has been successfully processed. You may pay the fee at any point, even before submitting your application. We recommend that you do this to avoid a delay if you submit your application close to the deadline.”

Does this go for USC as well, will my application still be in on time or will it make me miss the deadline???

“please note that the processing of a credit card fee may take 1-2 days to reflect with the Common App Online.”

“This college (USC) will not receive your application until your fee has been successfully processed.”

So:“We recommend that you do this to avoid a delay if you submit your application close to the deadline.”

If it takes 1-2 days to process the fee, then I’m sorry you will miss the deadline. (Based on the information you provided.)

^^ I couldn’t see why you would be penalized for the inefficiency of the payment processing system. As long as you have submitted your payment and Common App before deadline, you should be fine.

@jrnavid
They are an Linguistics and Korean classes. Korean 101 and 102. And a intro type ling class.

Dangit, i just paid my application fee via debit card. I was sure that I had the money in my account, but then I checked my bank account and I had a zero balance. I transferred money into my account as soon as I saw this, about 30 seconds after hitting “submit payment” on the common app thing.

The Common App says the fee has been submitted and that “You have paid this institution’s application fee online.”

Is this something I should be worried about?

@Poser

If the transaction went through, I wouldn’t worry. You can always call your bank tomorrow and check.

On a side note, this year’s thread has been lacking in terms of posts. Around this time last year, there was about double the posts.
