Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

Do you think there’s a relevance?

is it just me or does it seem like there arent too many science related usc transfer applicants on this thread? not that im complaining…less competition haha

^what science are you majoring in?

i applied for the dental hygiene/dds pathway (basically become a dentist in 6 years)

Nice. Haven’t talked to anyone applying to that program, I’ve heard becoming a dentist is almost more rigorous than becoming a medical doctor these days. I’m applying to the Occupational Therapy program.

i think the biggest obstacle is getting in first…ive heard of people who’ve applied 7-8 years for dental school and haven’t had any luck. :frowning: so im just hoping for the best haha. the pathway is a completely new program too. and thats awesome! ive heard usc has really good connections for getting jobs in OT.

With the program being fairly new, is it safe to say there will be a smaller applicant pool? That’s all we can do at this point, as Mitch said on an earlier post we all applied, now we just gotta wait :0. My biggest fear is my gpa going down this semester, I took on a really heavy classload. Yeah I’ve heard that as well, I already got into my safety schools, but for OT, USC is the only school to go to. :)

Hey. Would it help a lot to send letters of recs? I have 3 people who would write pretty good rec letters for me. Is it too late? And do I need to send rec letters with any school forms or just mail the rec letters to USC directly?

so am i the only one that didn’t receive an email from USC saying that my application was “under consideration”?

should i be worried…?

^Not at all, I didn’t get one. :)

I get to relax for yet another day lol.

Do you guys think its beneficial to talk to one of those regional counselors?

^About what?

If it’s just idle questions about decision making on your app, I personally wouldn’t. Because at this point, IMO, you’d kinda be a bother because they have more than 30,000 applications to go through. And they wouldn’t give you anything concrete anyway, just a generic answer. So I think that would be a no-go.

I’m gonna buy this item if admitted!!!

Haha! I don’t even want to look at USC apparel until I get accepted. Don’t want to jinx myself AT ALL

lmao @gousc92

I was looking at the old thread and people don’t get in until July! Well some at least.

Are there any people in their third year applying as a transfer? JW

my bad i didn’t clarify but yes i meant for decisions.

Well i’ve been talking to the counselor since like october…
i hope that that helps :P

^ Oh ok! I thought you meant just randomly talking to them now, lol.

That’s different. Feel free to continue talking to her/him. Just be mindful of their time. =]

@bandit1990

see…thats the thing i feel like it could go either way. an influx of people rushing to get a spot orrrr people unaware of the program at all. im hoping for the latter lol. but yeah very true–i guess we shall see within a few months. as for now best of luck on your semester and congrats on your safety schools!

@ gousc92

do they really have 30,000 applications to go through?! that seems daunting lol

@ilovescience: I obviously don’t know the exact number, but I know it’s at least 8K transfer students and on USC’s site they said that they got at least 37000 freshmen applications last year so my number is actually smaller. With the common app, we can of course expect these numbers to be a whole lot higher.

It’s not too surprising, USC’s a fabulous school, who wouldn’t want to be a Trojan? ;)
