Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

its been like two weeks and they have everything. Why does it still say I’m missing something?:/

We have received your Common Application and USC Supplement, and it appears we require no additional information at this time. We will be reviewing applications through the month of March, and we expect to be able to meet our commitment to notify transfers by June 1st. Sometimes, in the course of our review of applications, we find that we need additional information. In such cases we will mail a written request. If you receive a request for more information, please respond promptly. In some cases we need to review final, spring term grades. If we request these of you, we will provide specific instructions on how to submit your spring grades to ensure speedy handling. In these cases, we make our final decisions later, typically by mid-July.

:O And so it begins… Goodluck everyone!

^

Same here. After nearly 3 weeks everything, everything I sent has been received. As you said now we wait.

Just received word that my transcripts has not been received:( Scrambling to prepare my documents to be sent via DHL. I hope this doesn’t mean that my application is late…

^that’s weird! Wasn’t your application in review??

^ I actually got that letter too - the one that said my app is in review. Then when I called to ask something, they told me they still needed my transcript. Still waiting for USConnect, but I hope they got it and that USConnect is just not updated [just like my LoR]! haha. I’m afraid if I call them again, they’ll make note of how annoying I am d:

@gousc92 I THOUGHT SO TOO! And they took so long to reply my email, not that I blame them of course - I understand. I finally saw a reply today and they told me they haven’t received it. Wanted to call but it’s Martin Luther King Day is it? I’ve sent in the stuff alr anyway. But my secondary school records are my personal photocopies? Does anyone know if they accept that? Cos I thought I’ll send that in first whole waiting for my secondary school to process and crap. Can’t wait another 15 hours or so to give them a call. Biting my nails…

So angry with the postal service.

@lullabies you got a letter? Mine was an email… But I didn’t really know what to make of it. When I finally began to relax and assure myself that they have received it, I find out they haven’t… =\ I REEEAAALLLYYY hope this doesn’t affect my application…

Shizzz I thought we’d know in March!

What exactly are the English requirements to transfer in? I’m applying as a sophomore from Penn State and we only need one semester for rhetoric and composition here. Could I take it over the summer and still get into USC for fall?

^Typically, it’s two semesters of English. (so 101 and 102) Some schools have Advanced English classes (for mine, it’s 105) that can fufill USC’s two semester requirement. Unfortunately for me, I found out too late and had to take the regular English sequence. >_<.

I would check your school’s articulation history with USC, just to have an idea of how your English would transfer.

Anyone else have a “Program of Study Needs Update” form on their Financial Aid documents list? I looked it up and it’s for Graduate Students but I’m obviously an undergrad. I should definitely call them, right?

^Yeah, that’s kinda weird. Give them a call asap.

No status updates for me, besides the whole “we’ll let you know what we think around April” shtick.

I’m going to have to find a way to preoccupy myself. >_<

At Penn State we just have Enlgish 015 which is basic rhetoric. The next one is 202C which is technical writing since I’m an engineering student. Those are the only English requirements and most students don’t take 202 until sophomore year. Do you need those English requirements to be admitted or can you take it at USC?

Just looked it up. The writing requirement at Penn State would be English 202 which I can’t take until fourth semester. Is there any way I can explain this to USC?

This might be a little late, but I think the people that live in the local area get letters after they have received your application and the ones that aren’t receive emails.

^ragingzero: Not necessarily. I live in Arizona and they sent me a confirmation letter. I think it’s just a courtesy notice.

@CGeresti: I’m not quite sure what the best course of action is in your case. Maybe another person on here could give better insight? :</p>

Why are people getting letters… i’m not :’[

Sigh*

@ cgeresti

check out the “transfer planning worksheet.” i believe its recommended but not necessarily required.

I called two weeks ago and they said they received my transcript, but they haven’t updated my USConnect, should I call them again?

Has this happened to anyone?

do you think they are really reviewing apps at this time?
