Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

I’m curious what are the transfer acceptance rates for Marshall School of Business vs. Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Science?

@jaywright111 Are you transferring from a community college?
I am, but it’s only been less than a year since I graduated from HS, and I feel like my chances of getting in have decreased…

Do you guys know what an “error code SS2” is on USC Connect? I tried checking my admission status but it says that my record cannot be located in the system? Also, how accurate is the document status on the website because I’ve sent my transcripts in about a month ago but it still shows up as being needed. Help?

Applyin for english and creative writing…so nervous :frowning: I don’t even know what my chances are anymore… i would die for a spring admission

@Ajuan17 yup I go to a community college in northern California and its my first year out of high school too. I’m applying for civil engineering, what about you? I’m hoping the GPA for engineers doesn’t have to be as high since we have to take such difficult classes…but that might be just wishful thinking

jaywright- what’s your gpa?

@jaywright111. i’m at santa barbara CC currently. i’m doing chemical engineering. well i heard that the average GPA is around a 3.6, which is good. yeah, the classes are extremely difficult, but i enjoy it a lot!

@ScGal my first quarter it was a 3.7 but it’s definitely going to drop after this quarter. what about you?

@Ajuan17 I’ll be happy to get a 3.5 after this winter and spring quarter is over lol did you apply out of high school?

im a second year, I have a 3.2-3.3 overall, i didn’t so well last winter quarter I was hospitalized (long story)
some of the classes i took last year aren’t transferable so if i do get accepted i will be a sophomore transfer, thats why if i do get rejected this year, ill apply again next year since i know i will be graduating in 4 1/2 or 5 yrs.

I go to UCSC too!
any ucsc peeps on here?

@jaywright11

that’s funny, I’m at Santa Barbara City College right now too, hoping to get into digital arts program at USC this fall. Love it here in SB, wonder how big of a transition to downtown LA would be?

@mechanical

Don’t worry about it. I had that error yesterday. Many we’re not able to log on as well. I believe USC is conducting site maintenance.

@mechanicalengine i called on friday about USC connect still saying i needed to send my transcript but i sent it in over a month ago too. they told me that a bunch of people were having the same issue, but their files were complete. so i’m thinking they’re just updating everyones statuses now and that’s why the sites down :)

@ DJpsu2015 thanks! i’ve got some friends up at PSU too! it was my #1 school but they unfortunately didn’t have my major and the weather of course isn’t always warm and sunny haha so i can imagine you’re missing the west coast! welp, fingers crossed and i hope we both get into USC as well! :)

@DJ: I totally understand! My school is really big and at first I thought that it would be cool. But it’s really not, lol, since when it gets hot, it takes years to get to the opposite side. My bike has helped a whole bunch though. :)

Haha, I just can’t wait for it. A whole catch up/get ahead week :D. I’m hoping to finish all my homework for Chem and Math for the rest of the semester, assuming the tutorial study hall is open then lol. And I’ll really be able to sleep since I told my AZ friends I was going back home, and my CA friends that I’ll be in AZ, so I’ll truly be left alone :P. I’ll deal with the backlash later lol.

Does anyone have a completed financial aid package yet? Or will it come out later? I’m kinda anxious to see my projected awards…

^Do we get a completed financial aid package regardless of if we get accepted or not? If so when do they start coming out?

@Jaywright111 Yes I did apply out of high school, but wasn’t accepted, but during my first year I have pretty much knocked out a good amount of math, english and science, i only need to complete my organic after this year. So I am a little more hopeful this time around. Did you apply out of high school?

usconnect is working for me again and I received no status change. It still says im missing my transcripts. ___

@ScGal12

I too am from Santa Cruz! I, unfortunately, didn’t apply this year. I really wasn’t aware that USC took applications from first years. I really wish I would have applied. :frowning:

I’ll be applying this fall.

It’s nice to know I’m not the only UCSC student trying to transfer.

@jongranados,

Hey, look at this way: you have another year to pull/keep your gpa high. Plus, I hear that junior transfers rarely get the SGR, so if you do well and apply, then you’ll likely get in (assuming your essays and additional materials are good).

Is it reasonable to expect some decisions within this week?

Honestly, no not at all.

The end of march would be a far better time to start expecting some decisions. But the only school I’ve seen make decisions even that early is Viterbi.
