Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

Just an FYI, if you’ve missed the CSS profile deadline or FAFSA deadline you should still apply. I just talked to a financial aid officer for USC and he said that they are leinant on the fin aid deadlines for applicants, and even though I submitted my CSS profile yesterday (over a month late) I still will be receiving priority and full aid.

When is your SPRING BREAK?!!!

^idk if that was directed to anyone specifically BUT my SB is April 2-6! I cant wait! Im finally going to let loose!

my friends application status already says under review!! I’m freaking out since I am on the quarter system and have not submitted my winter grades yet.

As of 2:00 PM this afternoon I was on spring break.

@caligirl

That’s exciting news! What major did your friend apply for?

She is a sociology major from a cc in socal

@californiagrl

I’m transferring from University of South Florida. Haven’t really seen too many people from florida transferring except this one guy earlier in the thread that said he was UF. how about u? sorry if u said it in the thread before, its hard to keep up with everybody.

I started my spring break this monday.

Also its good to know that even though u send in ur CSS profile in late they will still consider u full aid. i was worried about that because i sent mine in a couple days after the deadline.

So its begun! I expect a few people to be admitted next week :D

I have a question about the commonapp fee waiver. do we have to send in anything else to verify that we qualify for it?

@ angieyeh:
from other people they say that you probably should. but i didn’t i just assumed that they would do the same thing they did when I applied as a high schooler which is they look at ur FAFSA and decide from there. i didn’t get an email or it didn’t show on the USConnect that i needed to still pay my fee waiver so I’m assuming i’m good.

BlackRose21,

ohh okay, I haven’t sent them anything either (mainly because I dont want to go to the post office again lol). i hope they check fafsa or even the documents i’ve uploaded on USConnect because that would be convenient. thanks :)

@EmperorChintz. I give you a round of applause. computer science is not my thing. I’m applying as chemical engineering. I’ve taken general chemistry, 2/3 of the physics courses, biology, astronomy, american sign language, and a couple social science. i’m currently taking multivariable calc… this is also my last semester for the english requirements. I haven’t taken E&M physics because of budget cuts, it’s only offered in the fall.

Where are you transferring from? and did you apply right out of high school?

@californiagrl

is she a freshman or sophomore transfer? do you know her stats?

It’s been over a month and my status still says they want my transcript. Would they ever tell me if it perhaps got lost in the mail or…?

the admissions office hardly ever keeps track and updates the documents received or not. more than likely they’ve received it but haven’t updated anything. if they haven’t received your transcripts they will typically send you a notification in the mail to send it in. also, once your status changes from being reviewed to decision sent in mail, that’s when you typically know whether or not you got in. not sure if it’s the same process for those that were rejected last year, but when i was accepted (and countless others) it went from being reviewed —> decision sent in mail. it was a pretty quick turnaround from what i remember.

@lullabies

i think you should call the admissions office just to be sure

@lullabies,

I’ll just add on from what the others have already said, but give them a call just to make sure. Once they tell you they have it, they should immediately update the status.

I called to see if they received my transcripts over 2 weeks ago. They did have my transcripts but they still havent updated my status. Is that a bad thing? Did anyone who call get the situation taken care of quickly and have their status changed?

When do we hear back?

What is the average accepted GPA for Marshall School of Business?

Does it help I am coming from a Top 30 school with a strong GPA?

@outofthisworld

according to last years transfer thread, anywhere from now until july. you’ll probably hear back in july if you get a SGR. typically, i think decisions will be coming out in april-may

average GPA around a 3.7?

im sure the admissions officers take into the level of difficulty of your current college. if you have a strong GPA, coming from a good school cant hurt!
