Official USC 2012 Transfer Thread

Ohh cool! but I applied it as my first major :slight_smile: …havent seen many people here applying for that major. What’s your first major choice?

As for ppd being ‘easy’’ …I’ve just been ransacking throughout the forums and google to find here and there that people saying the ppd is ‘easy’ but nothing much to back it up so I was curious if anyone here knew anything about it!

ohhh gotcha gotcha yeah ive been trying to look for information about ppd everywhere but i can never seem to find it! i did business as my first choice major, mainly because its what i think i could use to be successful but ppd is my passion so we’ll see how it goes!

yeah i dont know if youve found this yet, but if you look at the undergraduate fall enrollment info, there were only 450 undergrads who enrolled! and only 300 of those were majors, not minors…i wonder if this means no one really applies to the price school or if their admissions are really competitive and thats why not that many people are in it

http://www.usc.edu/schools/price/students/facts/enrollment.html

and ive only heard of about one or two other people on this thread who applied under that major. most people dont even know what it is

Well, in England we have some very good high schools that are pretty much built out of castles (Harry Potter style) which are fantastic and offer a lot. But when it comes to universities, outside Oxford & Cambridge there is very little. When I first saw USC, I was blown away by its size, its extracurricular opportunities and its attention to detail. The college I am currently at is pretty dead and it just doesn’t have that same culture - there is very little to do outside class.

I’ve spent a lot of time in socal and thats how I got to know SC. I realized as soon as I saw the campus that this was the place for me and the more I learned about USC, the more it backed up that claim. I was already admitted to a college in the UK at the time though and so decided the best thing would be to start there and then transfer into my junior year! I really love the sense of pride of being a Trojan and I really hope that in a few weeks I’ll be let into the family!

Holy balls I hate waiting for this!

What’s everyones status for their USC applications on CommonApp?

My “Application” status changed from Completed >> Downloaded. However, my “Supplements” status has remained at Completed. Is that a problem? 0_o…

@steadyy my common app says the same thing. application was downloaded and supplements say completed, i don’t think that’s a problem?

@FUTURETROJANSC: Oh, I see! What major are you going to apply for? I find that interesting since I went to London and I really liked it there, but I guess different strokes for different folks. :)

The wait is freaking terrible. I’m hoping to know by early May since I’ll be out of the country until June, but we’ll see.

Im hoping I don’t get an SGR. Do you think a high school gpa of 4.2 and a 34 on the act would warrant that my first semester 3.9 in 27 units wasn’t a fluke?

^Holy GOD, that’s insane.

You’re like pretty much guaranteed a straight acceptance with stats like that, but it’s really up in the air. USC’s admissions methods are extremely sporadic.

@laurz14 I was just worried because I remember someone telling me that if the status isn’t “downloaded” then USC hasn’t received it, but I just got off the phone with them not too long ago, and they said it was fine. Thank You for responding though haha

Do you guys think that if you’re a sophomore applicant that USC looks at your high school record at all? I did REALLY well in high school and I am doing pretty good at college, around a 3.5 at a top school. I’m worried since my GPA is slightly below the average. Ahh so much stress waiting for the decisions!

What were your high school stats? Where are you at now?

@californiagrl

if you have above 30 semester units or 45 quarter units, admissions does not consider your high school stats whatsoever

ive heard that once a school goes on the common app, the # of applicants increases significantly (of course) but that the school’s acceptance rate decreases. is that true? what do you guys think of that?

“ive heard that once a school goes on the common app, the # of applicants increases significantly (of course) but that the school’s acceptance rate decreases. is that true?”

Very true

“what do you guys think of that?”

FU$^@(u#@@u#*!@(#@y#&@y!&&@)$!@&$$!@)!&$)!

hahah

if the number of people applying goes up it is only logical that the acceptance rate would go down at least by a little.

Wishing all of you the best! We can do this! Fight on!

Oh NO!!! Have you noticed that USC just changed the date when the transfer scholarship was offered?!! It was “by April 1st” now it is “by June 1st”… That means we need to wait at most two more months. I thought I could first hear from USC among the four schools I applied but now It seems it has dropped to the last.

Jeremystory- Its always been by June 1st. April 1st is only for freshman transfers.

EDIT: Oh wait the transfer scholarship? Oops XD lol

Sadly, I just saw that too. Looks as if maybe mid April is more of a target date now.

I wonder what happened to that girl who was in the “review” status.

@gousc92

Yeah, the wait is painful. I keep on checking USConnect, just waiting for something to happen, be it an ‘under review’ status or at least a change of some sort. I think the hardest thing will be having to wait while others start getting their acceptance letters!

I’m hoping to find out by the end of April/ beginning of May as I’m spending the summer in LA regardless. I plan to leave at the very beginning of June, so it would be nice to have at least a couple of days to sell off all my stuff (car etc.) if I know I’ll be moving permanently. Fingers crossed!

Btw, do you know if we’ll be able to find out if we are accepted on USConnect? Or is the only way of finding out via mail?
