@FUTURETROJANSC: THAT is really going to suck. I feel like I’ll get even more nervous as everyone else’s acceptances start rolling in. I’ve decided to cut down my checking of status to once every other week, but it’s going to be hard to do, since I was psyching myself out checking once every day, lol.

We get our decisions via postal mail, which is why I’m hoping I get a decision before I leave for my summer vacation. If it gets too late, I know that they allow phone call notifications of decisions, but from the last threads I’ve seen, that’s most likely going to be July.

haha, I don’t know how you can limit yourself to checking once every other week! I’ve been checking daily just for the hell of it (even though I know nothing will change for at least a couple more weeks).

My major is Political Science, I remember you asked. What are you applying for?

I know, right? It’s a highly ambitious goal of mine. I’m sure I won’t make it past the first day, lol. It’s terrible because I can’t focus on much else but this USC application. Everyday I go to school, hoping that I hear something, but no such luck. Patience really IS a virtue.

Political Science, fascinating! What do you want to do with that? I’m a Sociology major, second choice Health and Humanity. I’m pretty sure I’ll end up changing it, but I’m just not sure to what. I’m hoping to go to graduate school and obtain a master’s, so regardless, I will be in school for a while. :)

Actually there is a way to know if you have been admitted through USConnect. Currently, there are four boxes (I believe it’s CA, Status Check, Document Check, and Twitter) but if you are accepted, two more boxes will appear. One is “Enrollment Deposit” and the other is “RSVP” to attend orientation.

Some students in the past have had these boxes appear (a day or two) before their package came in.

Well, so far I’ve been studying Political Science as a major and International Relations as a minor; I’ll probably continue doing that. But I plan to study law after: I’ve had chance to take a few law units at my current college and I find it very interesting/am good at it. I took a sociology unit last year and it was interesting; we largely focused on state-provided health care though as per the ‘European model’ and didn’t get much beyond that.

@MitchAPalooza

That is interesting; I will keep an eye out for that, thanks!

Thanks for sharing it. It makes sense and seems you know a lot about the whole process like the transfer merit scholarship thing. Wish you the best luck!

overheard someone from admissions a couple weeks back about how the switch to the common app has caused them a lot of problems. they didn’t expect the increase to be so drastic so they’re having trouble going through every application and it’s been very tough for them so far.

I’m a prospective Sophomore applicant. I originally applied to SC back in 2010 but I was denied admission. It was around early April 2010 when I decided to come on CC and the transfer forums. I’ve then since been accumulating information from the SC transfer threads.

Have you guys ever heard of the “back door” method? It’s another way of finding out if you have been accepted earlier. I’ll post the links/information later but I still think it’s too early to try them.

you guys are all waiting for your transfer decisions for this year correct? well i am going to be a freshmen this coming fall at UCR, however i REALLY want to transfer to USC after one year (poli sci major). Is it a realistic possibility to go from UCR to USC?..I’m confident that i can get a 3.8-4.0 at UCR…can anyone guide me? what classes do i need to take? credits? should i talk to counselors at USC? any help that will get me ahead of the game would be great! thanks in advance!!

If you go on USC’s admission website you can find the specific admissions counselor for your school. Just enter your schools name into “Find my admissions counselor” and you will get the email of the person who is going to be evaluating your app when you apply next year. You can email her and ask her these specific questions.

i think its definitely realistic to transfer from UCR with a 3.8-4.0 GPA. you should probably take 45 or above quarter units if you dont want USC to look at your high school grades whatsoever. you should take classes that satisfy USC GE requirements @ UCR (you can see which classes are equivalent to what with the UCR USC articulation history) since the more categories you knock out when you apply, the more competitive your application is. and like bearterritory said, you should look up your admissions counselor and start asking them questions/getting to know them

also, if you want more information you should go to USC’s transfer days/information sessions. i went and theyre incredibly informative. good luck!

Anyone else having a really hard time trying to focus on schoolwork? I’m like constantly logging onto usconnect, hoping that something changed. I have two exams next week…eek. Only a month of this semester left and then I have all the time to freak out if I still don’t hear back by then.

YESSSS its sooooo hard. i just had finals this past week and the only thing i could do to motivate myself to study was thinking about being at USC
