@alaintran9 i had no idea of this at the beginning of the semester. I took three science classes chem, physics, and bio so i figured 12 units is pretty good but i would hate to think that would cause me to get rejected!

yeah im at 69 credits and around 80 with APs at the end of my sophomore year… didnt make sense to take too much with science classes esp if it wasnt going to transfer

Also anyone know if it would be a bad idea to send in spring grades without receiving an SGR? I received one last year but not one for this year yet. MY grades are way up but not sure if its a good sign. My semesters over so i can send them now but not sure if i should. Would it hurt my chances?

@USCHopeful11 Yeah cause one thing USC states is that they look at your strength of schedule, so I’m tripping about how few of units I have this semester.

I got a SGR… And I’m in the same boat as you guys… I only have 9 credits going this spring. They will be all A’s. But still a little worried about that number. I listed my courses for spring with only the 9 and apparently they were not so turned off that they wouldn’t give me a SGR… Idk if it’s that big of a deal. Especially if they see you have always taken a full load other semesters.

Also… It’s not exactly the same thing but it might make some of us feel better that, last year a guy on here got a SGR with only 9 hours for spring because he took a W in one class and an incomplete in another… So he had to send in his spring grades with only the 9 hours, and STILL GOT IN. lol who knows.

I think if someone had heard that about if you don’t take a certain number…that it probably is about as true as how their twitter account says you can’t have any W’s lol. Ha. And if they don’t like someone taking just 12 or 9 hours why would they even bother sending me a SGR, right?? Lol

Just a heads up for people with W’s. I asked my admissions counselor and he said that a W may not necessarily be a detriment, but they do prefer to see as few as possible.

@scorchinscotsman they asked me for the courses I was enrolled in for Spring, and by I progress report I assume they wanted to make sure I hadn’t dropped anything. My semester isn’t over for another 2 weeks so I have no spring grades to give them yet.

So while I wait for anything - SGR, rejection or acceptance letter - my two-year school awarded me (and this was completely unexpected) a two-year $10,000 transfer scholarship. Now I might be able to actually afford USC!

Does anyone knows, if I am applying for usc’s school of dramatic art for design’s BFA how much do they value my portfolio v.s grades? I have a 3.8 and I am only taking 12 units this semester, and after reading all the treads above, I am really scared… I hope that my portfolio can at least help me a little.
