Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

If I do get accepted I would most likely attend but financial aid would play a role in my decision to an extent. Being apart of the Trojan Family is not something than can easily be passed up.

Well said ^

^ what he said

Btw: congrats RandomNewGuy, on the sweet scholarship! You’re making us all look bad… Lol. And just a question for feedback from you guys: I know none of us really know anything for certain on here but… How do you guys think someones chances would be that received a SGR and then sends in a 4.0
semester? I know it’s not for certain, but do you guys think the odds would be in my favor? I just really wonder how the whole SGR process/odds really are?

@TomRed In my opinion, if one gets an SGR and sends in their transcript with a 4.0, I would think your chances of being admitted are very high. Or else, why would they give you an SGR and show interest, as getting a 4.0 during that semester is the only way to show them you’ve accomplished what an SGR is meant to be. If that makes sense… Lol

It does… I hope you’re right lol.

@alanintran9 … I did not apply or anything. My college has an honors awards ceremony every year to hand out individual awards and induct Phi Theta Kappa members. I was told I was receiving an award, but I thought it was something for my participation in our honors program (I got one for that too), but the Dean of Humanities introduced the former CEO of the National Association of Counties, who read some of my field work for our study-travel trip and a bit from my USC application, and said that they were awarding me the $10,000 scholarship because I “will make a difference.” It’s a game changer for my fianc

if you look at past USC transfer threads, there were plenty of people who received SGRs and had 4.0’s and were still rejected. I would not be so confident.
Keep in mind that a large portion of freshman applicants receive SGRs and some sophomores as well, but only one third of applicants are admitted

Tell me something I don’t know ^

But still obviously it’s better than a straight rejection… And judging by the majority that I’ve seen and talked to it is a pretty good indication. Nothing is certain obviously.

Also never said I was feeling “confident” either, lol.

@evenescent lmao how do you guys find these? there so many posts on last years thread … sounds like such a drag …

we’re so impatient we’re going through each page from an older transfer thread to see if we can learn anything new ;)

I think @even is just a bitter hater… It’s just what he does. Ha. Jk.

I want to apologize if I sounded like a jerk. I seriously thought you were joking and I also thought that everyone knew what “W” meant in college. I also noticed that I misspelled “withdraw”; or at least I think I did. Not really sure if I used it the right way.

has anyone else looked at the STARS Interactive Audit Report on OASIS and seen courses on there? right now it says i am taking CORE195 and WRIT140 in the fall of this year…

@dannygusc Same. Hopefully that means we are admitted lol

It actually has been randomly changing terms for me in a couple of the times I have looked. Is it giving you the error it can’t process the STARS report due to that long error thing?

Also, does the transcripts link cause an error for you too?

@evenescent
Sorry but I dont see ur statement makes sense to me tho

If u mean someone get a SGR and later reply a straight A spring grade to USC but still get rejected, then why does USC give out the SGR to that person in the in the first place? If the greatest result (4.0 in that spring semester)is not enough, I see no point the school asks for spring grades, and the school should just reject that person directly.

@marty212 @dannygusc

It says Im enrolled in those classes too and I get the same error.

Therefore, in my opinion, if u get a SGR and u manage to have a straight A in spring, U ARE IN!

I also have core195

MichaelLau, your reasoning is sound, however those who have observed on the forums over the last few years can tell you that each year there are a few students who receive SGRs, achieve a 4.0 in the spring semester, and then are ultimately rejected by USC. It appears to me that USC is employing some of the SGRs as an enrollment management technique - as they find out how many of the admitted freshmen, transfers and spring admits accept the offers of admission they know how many more transfer admission spots can be offered in mid to late July. As big a supporter of USC as I am, I find the idea that a student with an SGR can be rejected with a 4.0 to be unnecessarily cruel.

I hope there are no reports of this phenomenon this year and you ALL receive the news you are hoping to hear.
