im legacy n have not heard a word

@bubbletea94 ya you are right no one really knows, I’ll guess we have to see what happens

But I have a 3.7 now do you think that’s okay? do you know the stats to what people last year got in with?

Thank you

hey guys. i emailed USC about the question I had earlier. I pretty muched asked how many spots there were available for transfers who applied to the cs games major.

The person said that in reality, i am applying to the whole viterbi school, and not just one particular major. Once i get accepted into viterbi, i have acces to ALL the majors.

lastly, the person said “don’t expect to hear back before June 1.”
NOOOO!!! i was hoping for some time in may. guess they’re really behind

thats the worst news!! haha oh well i guess @heartybowl i cant believe theyre going to drag this wait until june…"(

@harry188 yes 3.7 is considered the average GPA for transfers. here’s what my admissions counselor said in an email: “The average admitted transfer student GPA is a 3.7. The higher your GPA, the stronger an application you present for transfer admission.”

@HeartyBowl noooooo did you email your specific counselor or just usc admissions in general? if it was just a general admissions person maybe that’s just a precautionary date…since I mean some people have already gotten SGRs. or maybe she/he meant no decision before june 1, but we may or may not hear back in the form of an SGR…

I messaged usc admissions in general, not my counselor. Look at the wording though. “don’t expect to hear back before June 1.” s/he didn’t say “expect to hear by June 1.”
those two phrases are completely different.

Hey guys i know this is off topic but I am curious about grade trends and if you think mine will significantly effect my chance of acceptance?

Quarter Cumulative
Fall 2011 3.667 3.667
Winter 2012 3.629 3.646
Spring 2012 3.891 3.719
Fall 2012 3.513 3.660
Winter 2013 3.523 3.632
Spring 2013 (In-Progress)

Also @bubbletea94 the 2013 USC transfer brochure states that the average tranfer GPA is a 3.6 not a 3.7.

@HeartyBowl I know, that’s why I suggested maybe s/he meant we may or may not hear back by SGR (but we definitely won’t hear a decision before june 1)

@Cschropp24 idk, just copying and pasting what my admissions counselor told me. either way harry188 is in the competitive range at least.

hey guys! i just joined the thread and it’s been really helpful! i was wondering… so no one has gotten an admission decision up to this point?

From USC twitter’s page, they said that all transfer applicants will be notify of their decision or a spring grade request by June 3rd.

SGRs suck. It means I won’t have an admission decision until mid-July -__-
I go to UCSC right now, and I applied to the Cinematic Arts school and the Annenberg School for Public Relations/ Digital Journalism. I would like to transfer because the film school at USC is extremely well funded and resourceful, therefore, would open a lot of doors for me in the field.

Hey guys, do you think there are any backdoor links this year? I heard there were some backdoor links that worked in Oasis.

@jojoyo

I, too, saw the backdoor links through Oasis in last year’s thread. I tried to log on a few days ago, and I do not have access. So, I am assuming as of now…no.
I hope we can eventually be sneak and get let in though :)

@ronaldot As bubbletea reiterated, I submitted my application on 01/20/2013.

@beachpony Considering that your GPA is much better than mine, I don’t think you should lose hope! There is still plenty of time to get a SGR or even be admitted right off the bat.

@alaintran9 I’m not a legacy.

I am not legacy.

A couple of years ago my d got a SG request about this time she heard she was accepted into the theater program around May 21st so not always a really long wait

I was looking through last year’s thread and everyone was raving about having 3 or 4 boxes. People were also talking about having April 4th status vs June 1st status. LOL. what do these even mean and how come they haven’t been mentioned in this thread?

I think April 4 is for freshman?

@catlover Thanks for sharing! Good to know that applicants who have to submit spring grades do not necessarily have to wait extra long.

I did see in last year’s transfer decisions that some applicants heard back in May after submitting their spring grades.

HeartyBowl- I went through this whole process last year. It got so crazy in here. XD

I dont remember all of the conspiracy theories but I believe there were 3 statuses (2 April ones and 1 June). It turned out that one of the April status’s meant you got in.

There was another thing about 3 boxes but I dont remember if that meant you got in or not. I got an SGR and didnt find out until mid-July. It was pretty much torture. haha
