Official USC 2013 Transfer Thread

I would just call them and ask if they have received your updated transcript.

750 deposit? What kind of scam? haha XD

Lol they have it, it’s just they don’t toss out the older one you know ? they just keep both in the file so its like … I can see their faces already … Da Fwak? where the F go o.O? … yea 750 for an SIR is kind of extreme … sigh … atl east they gave me a nice scholarship and some aid soon to come, I think Pepperdine is almost a free ride … hopefully USC is generous and like many of my other friends I only end up paying 1 - 2k per semester …

Yeah $750 is a lot. I’m about to pay $650 for Boston University. That is my top choice (besides USC) and they gave good money (I would have to pay less than $10k).

I applied to BU’s COM school, which is supposed to be one of the best. Anyone who is applying to USC Annenberg also apply to BU?

@that1guyy

i go to bu right now and i’m in com! it’s great! cold but great ha…

goodluck in may everyone were almost there

@mceemgee

Awesome! Are you considering transferring to USC lol? Is that why you’re on this thread? I hope not haha. Anyways, can you tell me the pros and cons of Annenberg vs BU COM?

I like the practical courses BU offers vs the theoretical humanities stuff USC has in their “communication” major. Also, Boston is awesome and I love what I’ve seen about the school. Plenty of internship opportunities and stuff but like you said, it is cold and its also far from my home (California).

USC on the other hand, has an awesome campus, many of my friends go there, considered more prestigious (in CA at least), equal if not better internship opportunities in LA and much better weather. Downsides are that the courses are not hands on like I want, it will probably end up being much more expensive for me.

just curious, is there anyone else here who hasn’t told friends from their current school about wanting to transfer? so far, i’ve only told my close high school friends (who don’t go to my current school) because I didn’t want to tell people at my current school before I knew the decision in case I didn’t get in. that’s why I haven’t joined any fb groups for transfer hopefuls, as much as i’d like to. but now, if it’s gonna take until maybe mid-july i’m thinking I should tell people…lol. gah and another thing–it’s so hard because I don’t want to commit to organizations and then just suddenly quit and be like lol jk bye but at the same time, I don’t want to tell them, not make it in to USC, and then always be the girl who doesn’t like it here and wants to transfer you know? it’s not like a CCC where I assume (?) wanting to transfer isn’t completely out of the ordinary. i’ve already had to inevitably talk to a few counselors about it and while they weren’t mean about it, it’s still always kind of like “oh…” when I tell them

@Ngarcia Thanks for your insight. My school is pretty quick processing transcript orders, so hopefully I won’t have to wait too long after submitting mine. Thank you technology and electronic transcripts!

@bubbletea I’ve only told my closest friends and people that will be affected if I do transfer. By that I mean organizations I’m involved with. I totally understand what you’re getting at though. I was hesitant on telling people I was applying to transfer just because I didn’t want to deal with all the questions and such. I held off on joining certain things as well because I didn’t want to commit if I wasn’t going to be here the year after.

ive told only tell people who asks what my plans are but i post it on instagram when i first applied cuz i was just to pumped haha hope i didnt jinx myself

i only tell people who ask** sorry

Can’t believe it’s been a year since I posted/checked out this kind of thread every day from April - July.

Anyways, you’ve probably already heard this, but a number of people in this thread will get an SGR around June 1st-June 3rdish (mailing delays?) and won’t hear back until July 15-20th ish. I don’t know how many people got accepted or denied by waiting so long, but just know that you could be one of them (like I was). I felt like the long wait with little to no communication with USC meant a likely rejection, but try to hang in there…

@ajmy17 aww yay nice to know you get meh. same here, i’ve actually really lessened my amount of activeness in organizations and refrained from a lot of opportunities this semester since I didn’t want to be a really committed member of something and then quit. the one i’m concerned with most is my work study actually lol. I already told my employer i’d be coming back next year :\ she’s kinda a scary boss lady type lol but really nice to me, as are all the other people I work with. I hate hurting people’s feelings haha and and I also don’t want to lose my position if I happen to stay lol. hopefully I hear not so late so I can give them time to find a replacement…

@JR2013 haha there have been so many times where I just wanted to tell everyone I knew since this has practically consumed me for the past few months.

@strengthftw thanks for the encouraging info :slight_smile: nice to know…it’s so easy to feel discouraged when we’re all so desperate lol. do you think you know any possible reasons why your decision was so delayed?

I really want to know the numbers of how many ppl get straight up denied, accepted, SGR accepted , and SGR denied lol

@bubbletea haha i know its tempting to just tell everyone but when i do tell people im like dammm if i dont get in ima look like a fool

@JR2013 lmaooo exactly.

I wanna know my chances… i think there slim…

Moorpark College GPA 3.38 when i applied after this spring hopefully 3.5

ECON Major

all but one Pre reqs done
IGETC DONE

whats my chances?

@bubbletea soo basicaly i think ima stop telling anyone just incase haha but i think what could be taking so long is they have to see how many students are remaining/enrolling at usc just for a estimated open spots before they start handing out admissions.

@JR2013 That’s exactly how I feel. Waiting on all the freshman to commit first and go from there.

when is their commitment date deadline?

May 1st is their deadline.
