I got a SGR on April 25th

I think it is more relevant to state how many units completed at the time of application rather that at the end of Spring.

It would be more likely to get an SGR if a transfer applicant completed less than 30 units at the time of applying, being that there is only 1 term of academic history to base performance off of (especially if the high school record is not too stellar).

@HopeForMarshall yeah, thats the category in which I happen to fall, which is why I was wondering if not getting a SGR basically means I am bound to get a rejection.

Regarding SGR’s

https://admissionblog.usc.edu/2013/05/08/transfer-process-update/

@anyabel hello I’m also studying in UC right now. I got my SGR yesterday and it really made me disappointed because our spring grade will come out very late

@HopeForMarshall At my school sophomore standing starts at 26 credits (12 credits is full time, though most students traditionally take 15 a semester–roughly 5 classes). Many of our courses are worth 3 credits with some others worth only 1 credit. Very rarely is a course worth 4 credits unless it is a remedial course. It takes roughly 9 more credits (we also have extensive accounting requirements but types of courses are besides the point) to graduate with a Marketing degree at my school then some of the other schools I’ve read about.

@olo59u There’s still the option of an acceptance too! Also they are still sending out SGR’s so don’t lose hope!

@Ftgirl Don’t feel bad, you guys get out mid June so you’ll have your grades out a week before USC’s deadline to send them in (June 30). Just send your transcript asap. I’m also on the quarter system as well except my quarter system are 12 weeks long instead of the typical 11 weeks so there’s no way in hell I could send my spring grades to USC if they were requested…I’ll be done with my Spring quarter on June 27th, which sucks.

@olo59u Negative! There was someone from my CC actually (here in Illinois) who did not get an SGR as a sophomore transfer applicant and was outright accepted. Being in the same situation, I am hoping to see the same results. Do not worry!

I’m at sbcc and happy that finals are the week before memorial wknd, so I can get my spring grades in early. I did heard that if people’s spring grades do come in late that usc also may as an option, accept for spring semester as well. “If” I get accepted for the spring, I’ll probably do a study abroad for the fall and start in the spring. Though hopefully I get in for the fall and I really want to be there for football season and sorority rush.

Good luck to everyone who has received an SGR I haven’t gotten one yet and I hope that I don’t I’d rather get rejected then an SGR personally I can’t wait that long. I wish the holistic approach by admissions was done before April.

Hey guys, I was wondering since SGR says that you won’t hear till July does that mean that they won’t complete their evaluation of your application until then? Meaning that we have to wait another three months?? Thanks for the help

I am not positive, but I read somewhere that if you are SGR’d they will hold your spot… can anyone confirm this speculation? Fight on!

@SCGirl101 I really hope so because we’ve been waiting for what seems like forever! Also do we just send our transcripts to the admissions office because I viewed the pdf of the SGR online. I’ve recently moved and it looks like they might have sent it to the old address so I don’t know what the instructions are. Thanks.

Wow, I got an SGR. Here I was hoping for an outright acceptance lol!

Hopefully, things work out for the best, for all of us!

@fightingtitan I think and hope its that you will receive a decision “BY” July 15, which is 2 1/2 months away. I would think they would hold a spot, but I’m not positive. So maybe the sooner we get the grades in, the sooner we’ll get a decision? That’s what I think atleast. What address does it say on your sgr letter in usc connect? That’s probably where they sent it; and if you moved, just update it in their system, so they know exactly where to send your acceptance packet in the future :)

If they do hold our spots then I would be seriously relieved. I’ve been reading the old transfer decisions and most people who got SGRed seem to have gotten in unless they did really bad in their spring semester. I think we all got SGRed because we are applying as sophomore standing though.

@esai23 I feel ya! It seems as though most people are getting it though, so I don’t think we should worry too much about it. I just really need to do well on my finals.

@fightingtitan - Yup, I’m hoping to do well on finals as well!

@uscindian - Well, I can’t remember who said it, but apparently, someone who got a SGR and maintained a 4.0 got rejected.

So many top applicants with high gpas getting sgr…I’d be lying to you guys if I told you I’m not nervous as hell
