@Karlos I just got accepted on thursday I was wondering how long it took for you to receive your financial aid? And thanks for always answering my questions!

E: Did you receive the transfer merit by any chance? (if you dont mind answering)

anyone applying to school of architecture. still nothing for me… blah… great gpa 3.9 and super good letters of rec… whats the dealio

accepted into Marshall. For those who didn’t get a SGR, don’t worry. I didn’t get one too. But I got a winter quarter grades request probably because my university does’t do semesters but quarters. I’m dropping a computer programming course this spring quarter. Do you guys think I will get rescinded for dropping a non-major preparing course? This really worries me!!! I need you guys’ insights!!!

Everyone who’s getting decisions, where are you all from? I see that someone who goes to IU Bloomington got in, but I wonder if they are a California resident or something?

@RawShark I don’t think so

@scahopeful I am assuming that most of the people getting in are from California itself. And also if you look at the transfer brochure from USC, only 23% of the transfers are from colleges outside California.

@sielburt let me know if you hear anything from USC. I am trying to stay optimistic but this wait is killing me. If I don’t hear back before June, I will have to send a deposit to Boston University

@almxy45 I have the brochure that lists last year’s stats so yes, I see that many who were admitted were from California. I was wondering about the people accepted so far this year though. And yeah, I thought that most would be from California but after I saw someone from IU post I wondered if they were from another state and just here for school or actually from Indiana.

@paulhe I would HIGHLY recommend calling the admissions office and asking them directly if dropping the course will affect your offer for admission. It’s not worth chancing it!!

@jjangoo

My financial aid tab was updated 3-4 business days after i got accepted. (the day they said on the acceptance package)

However, if you are talking about a physical financial aid package, i have not received any.

As for the merit, i honestly have no idea what that is.

@almxy45 you will definitely hear back from USC before June. They mean that when they say it.

@MPCCBT I don’t agree with the idea that 4-yr coursework is more difficult than at a CC. I’ve seen exams and syllabi from universities like UCSC, and it pales in comparison to the level of difficulty I’ve seen on my exams and syllabi within the sciences at MPC. I would easily have an A in organic chemistry if I were taking it at a 4-yr. I know not all 4-yr’s are the same, but I’m sure USC admissions knows at least something about the caliber of teaching at some cc’s when compared to a 4-yr.

@RawShark I haven’t heard anything. I’m currently waiting to hear from both Dornsife and SCA. Crossing my fingers for next week!

For anyone that has received their financial aid package… are you happy with it? My main concern right now is paying for USC. If you’re comfortable putting what you received and your EFC, it would be greatly appreciated. I would hate to get in and then not be able to go because of the money.

@MPCCBT Good luck to you too as well! have you received an SGR yet? would you be applying as a junior or sophomore standing?

@sielburt maybe you’re right. Considering we’ve never experienced coursework at the University level we don’t know for sure, but I have had very challenging classes at MP. That’s for sure.

@uscindian Thank You! I have not received an SGR! I’m excited to see what USC says! And I applying as a Junior standing with 60 units completed by the end of this Spring Semester. Wbu?

I have a quick question. For those that apply/get in as Undecided, how exactly does that STARS audit report thing look filled out if you don’t exactly have a set major in mind?

@MPCCBT I went to college in Washington right out of high school. Perhaps it was the university I went to in Washington, but most of my major courses at MPC in math and science have been far more challenging than what I was getting at a 4-yr.

@sielburt Ohhhh sorry! I didn’t know you went to a University. Well that’s interesting to know.

Does anyone know what the acceptance rate for SGRs is? I can’t seem to find any information about it…

How many people would you guys assume have already been accepted out of the roughly 2,500 acceptances they will send out?

@cindyoh95 I don’t think they have it posted because it’s very different every year. They don’t have to accept anyone they send SGRs to, it’s up to the student to do well and prove themselves.
