Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

@Trojfan131‌ I actually finished out the semester a couple weeks ago. My CC finishes way early. So, I’m trying to keep myself super busy so I won’t go crazy, but it isn’t really working.

@almxy45‌ I can relate. I graduated almost two weeks ago, and it seemed anti-climatic since I still don’t know if I got into USC.

Northern California SCA applicant - checked mail today & still nothing.

Northern California / Dornsife - Comparative Literature

I am empty handed and my anxious cheese consumption is at an all time high.

@odinhelpme‌ lol I can completely relate. I swing between eating everything in my kitchen or being so anxious I can’t eat anything at all. There’s no middle ground.

Hi guys!
Like many others I have been following this forum and finally decided to speak up
Sorry I don’t have any new breaking news but I do have a few questions.
How much do you think USC takes who you know or any type of connections into admission decisions?

@ilovestemcells‌ I think, if anything, it will give your application more consideration. I don’t believe it will give you an acceptance, though.

@sielburt thanks, that’s what I thought too. I’m just trying to get anything I can haha because my GPA pretty much sucks. I had a bad slump due to some family circumstances and that all unfortunately happened when I was finishing up all of my transfer courses so my “upward trend” right now isn’t really important classes

If I got an SGR for Dornsife and I am currently taking 22 units with a spring GPA of 4.0, would you say I should be feeling confident about getting in? I know some people got rejected even after a 4.0 SGR, but I’m not sure how many units they were taking, or what classes.

I’m curious to know what the admission stats are for SCA’s Media Arts and Practice program. As far as I know, it’s nowhere near as competitive as something like SCA’s Film&Production program… Right? Thoughts?

Hey guys,

Does our major in the school we’re applying from (UC Davis in my case) factor into our admission chances? For example, I applied with a Undeclared-Fine Arts major but have been engaging in Economics preparatory work (Calculus, Statistics, etc.) as I plan to declare Economics as my major here at Davis. However, on my transcript, it still lists Undeclared-Fine Arts as my major. I applied for Price/PPD as my first-choice major and Economics within Dornslife as my second. I got a Spring Grade Request- will declaring my major as Economics before submitting my spring grades benefit/decrease my chances of admission, or does my major here at Davis not factor into their decision?

Thank you!

Hey guys,

I was wondering if there is any Marshall applicants on here with a 3.5-3.6 that still have not gotten a SGR or heard anything back from admissions yet? I hope I am not the only one :-/

@andyn937‌
I applied to Marshall too and have a 3.94 through 58 units and have not heard anything back either.

To any of the SCA applicants, have Connect or Oasis changed for you at all yet? Have any of you got SGRs?

@bballprofessor23‌ I have the same problem. I am IR in Davis, but I applied for Environmental Science and Health (a 2 year old major at USC). I don’t think it really matters because they know which classes you’ve taken and they can make sense of your interests.

I’m a bit sad right now. Just checked my Spring grades and, even though I was hoping for a 4.0, I only got a 3.95 because of 1 A- so my cumulative is a shy over 3.91. Hopefully, this summer will be a 4.0 summer and I can continue this upward trend (regardless of my failed expectations)

@greengecko nope, no changes on my USC connect. Nothing on oasis either. But. It’s been an occurrence to not have any changes then come to find that an acceptance package is sitting in the mailbox… So, I’m currently hoping for that.

@greengecko‌ No SGR or updates to USConnect or Oasis. I’m crossing my fingers for a nice big acceptance package tomorrow.

@greengecko I have gotten nothing, no updates on anything. I just hope I get a package and it should come earlier for me since I live about 25 minutes away from USC. So hopefully tomorrow!

@andyn937 depending on how USC calculates it… 3.72 still waiting to hear back from Marshall ;-(

My friend in my Business Cal class got a SGR last weekend but prior to this they asked for more information (college transcripts up to now) a few months ago and she just heard back…

They asked for a college transcript from awhile back on April 29th and I sent them on the April 30th, on my USConnect it still says those materials are needed even though they received them. Who knows! I wish everyone the best of luck!

@Sanderella24‌ I had a similar situation last Friday where I saw that USConnect said that they were missing my transcripts… I freaked out of course because I knew I sent them and didn’t want my application delayed. The message said " We have received… but it appears we need more information…" I called and they told me that, despite the different formatting, it was a SGR. Maybe call and see if yours is similar?
