Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

I’m so sorry. I have just been going crazy. Please void my comment above. lol.

@ilovestemcells. Yes my stars audit report changed from 4/12 to 5/16 with everything filled out. Some people’s audit reports change and some do not - but if yours doesn’t change it doesn’t mean you were rejected!

@greengecko haha don’t feel bad after reading what you said I totally thought the same thing and had to go back and check if that was what I was seeing before! lol don’t worry I think all of us are going crazy. And thanks because my audit report is still dated for 4/27 when I first logged in so that makes me feel a little better at least. So I’m guessing your in if yours is all filled out?

@ilovestemcells That’s what they tell me, at least… I mean “they” as in my fellow College Confidential mates. I hope that their expertise and knowledge from past years are correct and I do get in! But we’ll see - I have yet to see my Connect show the Enrollment boxes.

@greengecko haha well that seems to be the trend so congrats! Forgive me if you already answered this, but what are your stats and what school did you apply?

My stats are pretty average.

3.8 College GPA
Good Recs (Can’t really tell because I’ve never seen them)
Decent supplements

I applied to School of Cinematic Arts for Film & TV Production.

awesome thanks. They must not be average if you got in! lol

@ilovestemcells I haven’t gotten in yet! I might be the first one to have had their star report change yet rejected! Who knows.

@greengecko‌ have you gotten a SGR or are you still waiting for your decision?

@keepfighting1 Nah, I did not get an SGR or a phone interview - I am just waiting to get a letter in the mail (hopefully good news) and the Enrollment boxes on Connect. And potentially a PDF in Connect too?

@greengecko‌ Stats don’t say a lot for SCA. Its about the whole application and how much you’re willing to succeed in the film industry I guess. Does anyone know how many transfers they usually accept at SCA?

Everyone, the logic behind the having the Stars Int. Audit Report filled out = Acceptance is that it seems very illogical for USC to take the time to evaluate all of your credits (to see what transfers) if they are going to reject you.

@greengecko that’s always been there. It hasn’t changed

@matthiasstoopman They have noted in the past that it’s about how well you can convey a story in motion picture format (which factors into your success as a filmmaker but isn’t a good predictor on how well you’ll do in the film industry) and how engaging the story actually is (to the application reader). Other things such as personality (what little they can tell from the personal statement), ambition, passion, and to a lesser extent academic record, factor in as well.

delete

@scahopeful Yes, I agree with you. But there’s also that logic that I haven’t accepted them yet. In fact, I could very well decline and yet they still would’ve had to fill out that whole report for nothing. Perhaps they fill the stars report out for all accepted applicants and then just don’t proceed to the next step if declined?

@greengecko Oh, I thought you were asking why everyone says that having it filled out means that you were accepted. Many people seem to come to the consensus that they wouldn’t fill it out for a rejected student and I was basically just reposting what has been said in the past. I didn’t know you were talking about whether or not you will actually enroll. You’re right you could very well decline their offer however it wouldn’t change the fact that you were accepted (assuming you are of course haha).

Also, I don’t quite understand your question at the end of your post. The Audit Report is filled whether you choose to enroll or not (is that what you mean by proceed to the next step?)

has anyone who got SGR’d heard back yet?

@Anxietyiskilling Nope, my teachers haven’t even put in the final grades yet!

@scahopeful All I meant to address was the possibility that admissions fills out the stars report for all accepted students whether or not they decide to enroll. If they do decide to enroll, USC is already one step ahead of the game because they’ve already filled out their stars report. On the other hand, if they decline to enroll, no action will be taken on USC’s part - they would just leave the stars report filled out but would never return to that page, thus not proceeding to the next step. That’s all I meant and I have no idea if that’s what they do but that does seem logical.

@ccstudentIL‌ I think you definitely have a shot! Which classes are (were) you taking this this Spring?

Hey I was wondering how do you get an Oasis account or a STARS audit? It says you need some information, but where do you get that? Also, do people who put undecided generally find out later on?

Does anyone have any information or ideas regarding getting an SGR with a lower GPA, but then sending in a 4.0 with a high number of units?

I guess this was phrased a little weird. What I’m trying to ask is if, even though my GPA may be lower than other people who received an SGR (3.41), will I be more likely to get in based on the fact that I am taking 22 units, vs the average 12-18?
