Official USC 2014 Transfer Thread

Has any admitted transfers heard anything back about transfer merit scholarships? And if so how were you notified?

@gabbyrrr I got into Marshall with a C in calc… I was SGR’d and ended up with 3 A’s and a C that semester. I had about a 3.5/3.6 cumulative GPA so there is hope for everyone with an SGR. Just have faith :)

Congrats @Ngarcia3‌ ! When did you get your SGR? Did you receive your pdf or letter first?

@gabbyrrr They are conditional decisions. (e.g. You can only accept the offer of admission IF you have a certain GPA, etc.)

You guys also have to understand that certain applicants are a bit easier to admit. For example, a junior and a freshman both applying to USC Marshall and both get SGRed, the freshman can turn in a 3.7 while the junior can turn in a 4.0 and the freshman will more likely get an acceptance first because it is easier to place them as ‘undeclared’ than it is to place a junior into their major (junior transfers must enroll in a major program).

@fightonusc1 Thanks! I got in a couple years ago lol… I just come in here to encourage folks. :)>-

I got my FA package today, it was good not great. They estimated my EFC to be a lot higher than FAFSA did. I don’t want to take on any loans, so I will be paying a little more than half of the TCA per year. Good luck and fight on!

What was your FAFSA EFC?

@scahopeful‌ $15,000

Got mine too! It was very generous. I will take out some loans, which I’m not against, but I qualify for more loans than I’m going to take. My whole tuition was pretty much covered  The loans are mostly for extra stuff like housing, books, etc that USC adds into the total cost of attendance.

My advisor spoke to the SCA international admissions, and they said a decision has been made!!! I will hear it any time soon. Really excited!!

@5nonnegotiables I am still on finals week, still have to turn in grades. Expecting to hear back in July. I was at UCSB two years, and at CC in SoCal this year. Did you get a SGR too?

@jack2011 I just graduated from sbcc, on the 23rd, got my spring grades last Thursday, And uploaded the final transcript to usc that day. I got my sgr on 4/26. I heard a few people on this thread say that they actually got a decision, before they turned in their spring grades. So u might hear back earlier. I just sent in my sir in on saturday to ucsb, as my back up. Where r u at now and what’s your back up plan?

@5nonnegotiables Nice, UCSB is an awesome school. I’m technically on a medical leave and can go back but I wanted to do straight accounting instead of econ/accounting so I applied places this year. Hopefully I hear back soon, I didnt get an SGR till May 15th though. Good luck to the both of us!

@jack2011 what do u think your gpa is for this year? I got a 3.5, which based on other people’s gpa’s on this thread, might be on the lower end, but I still think I’m competitive overall. I heard a few other people getting in with a little lower gpa’s also. I heard the acct prgm at usc is great and I’ve read in past years threads that a sgr is good as long as you don’t do really bad in the spring.

Still no updates, except for academic verification towards financial aid. Hoping for the best this week!

@‌5nonnegotiables 4.0 in fall, looks like probably a 4.0 this spring too (locked up an A in managerial acct today!)

ya the program is really really good. I’m a legacy also, both parents. so hopefully I got a good shot. Ya a 3.5 is solid people here act like you need a perfect GPA but I don’t think that’s the case at all.

…nothing on US Connect. Not even a rejection PDF. Oasis is left alone too. Not sure whats up? Did not get an SGR or anything. Heard nothing from them…

@Eilrymist Are you a sophomore or junior transfer?

@xsayax What was your FAFSA EFC?

@scahopeful for fafsa it was 0, but my parents are divorced so not sure how much they estimated for both of them with the css profiles
