@greengecko … I have no idea if all the USC schools have looked at ALL the material, but the university is honest with its statement that it will meet its requirements. I mean, you have to consider the sheer volume they must sift through. And then there is a simple numbers game of spots available.

I wouldn’t get too hyped about a school sending out decisions before another; the only school I remember from last year that seemed to consistent send out decisions earlier than the others was Viterbi.

@Csb111 @lkm291 Pretty sure you can’t enroll in classes at a cc that fulfill GE requirements when you’re accepted to USC, meaning you can’t take those classes in the summer if you’re looking for them to satisfy USC’s desired GE classes. I followed IGETC also and was still able to fit those classes into USC’s GE requirements

Here is a link to the 2012 Transfer Stats Decision thread. I think it will help most of you get some idea about when specific schools within USC start to roll out decisions.

@sielburt. Thanks for that. I have a question though: Why are all these people entering as sophomores? They all applied when they were freshmen? Are you guys all freshmen? Or have they not completed enough units to get them to Junior status yet…?

@greengecko I had to apply as a sophomore as well. I’m only on track to have 60-62 units completed (since I aimed for UC’s first) and I believe it said that USC considers 64 units to be junior level. I’m not sure if I’m remembering that right though.

@greengecko I applied to USC as a junior transfer. If admitted, I currently have enough units to enter as a junior. Your class level depends on how many transferable units you have when you’re admitted.

Say you’re admitted as a sophomore (seeming that you don’t have enough credits to be considered a junior yet), can you fill out a form later on verifying that you have enough transferable credits to be considered a junior?

@CSB111 The only pre-reqs for Marshall is Calc and 2nd year writing requirement. The two accounting courses are suggested and highly recommended to take but not a requirement for admission and the same goes with the GEs. Are you sure you don’t have ANY classes in Categories I,II,III, V, and Diversity already completed? How about language requirement (Which Marshall doesn’t require).

@Coutcin Not many people AT all have received an SGR this early. I have received a request to see additional information and transcripts - it looks like a SGR but it really isn’t. I know of some people that think they received an SGR from USC but in reality it was USC just asking for information either by mistake or that they feel they have missing information. Keep in mind, USC does look at the student clearinghouse records and will see what schools and terms an applicant has previously attended in their lifetime.

@Hopeformarshall I seriously don’t have any of the requirements. My community college and major covered most of IGETC through both their requirements and transfer requirements. I think when I first tried planning it I gave up because any classes I could’ve taken for GE weren’t even offered/or I had too many units.

@Spiffyboi @CSB111@lkm291 I have to agree that once you are accepted into USC you will not be able to attend a CC to satisfy GEs UNLESS you receive an approval to take the GEs at another institution. I think there is some stipulation for transfer students following a transfer pattern for GE. There is also something about being able to transfer the courses as elective credit but not for GEs. I just lost myself. haha.

Well, everything I have transfers except the Chem class I took (4 units). So i’ll be 62 units. I guess when the times comes I’ll have to figure it out. There is no way I’d go if I had to take GEs there.

If you’re coming in as a sophomore student (current first-year now), would it be bad if I only satisfy 3 gen ed’s? I only satisfy the western civilizations, the foreign language (all years) and the diversity requirement. I used to meet the math requirement but that somehow went away? I don’t meet the english requirement because my school doesn’t offer any transferrable equivalencies to writing class.

@wdemasters02 I’d be in the same boat (or even worse). I took a sociology course that meets the diversity requirement, I’ve taken 3 English courses and one of them meets some other requirement. So I just have 2 if I don’t include the writing requirement.
