Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

Hey there everyone so I’m super stressed lately because I have a 3.08 gpa out of community college and I wanted to know what are my chances of being admitted. I am a business admin/ bus Econ major and I have a pretty descent story. I was born in Afghanistan during the Taliban regime. Also currently I am a nationally competing taekwondo fighter.

I’ve applied to
Ucsb-denied
Ucberkely-denied
Uci-wait listed
Ucr-waitlisted
Usc-still pending

I also was wondering how usc calculates their gpa because I know it’s different than the ucs

@wgmasjb123 fellow Viterbi applicant here, heard nothing yet and it’s absolutely KILLING me.

@MedicMatt What about econ and ppd? Do they have to take placement tests too?

Hello. I am a dornsife/poli sci appicant and have not heard anything. From looking at this board, it seems like a majority of acceptances have already been awarded. Am I wrong? Has someone taken a look at years past to see if many dornsife acceptances are given the second half late in May?

Congrats to all those accepted. But has anyone been denied yet? Don’t feel bashful!

@davey310 I don’t think SC has sent out rejections yet but I have a feeling that they will be coming soon!!! I haven’t heard back yet and I am a Marshall applicant so I have a feeling that I got rejected

@ForeverGymnast21 I am in the exact same position you are. Mashall applicant and haven’t heard/received anything yet. Thats why I’m wondering if some people have been rejected yet

@davey310 I think some rejections should be out in 2 weeks, at this point I’m preparing myself for the little envelope

@ForeverGymnast21 Im preparing myself to walk into that admission office to appeal

It’s only May 9th. Acceptances from any major can come throughout the entire month, and SGRs even later than that. I don’t know why y’all are giving up so quick.

Have most of the acceptances been from community college? I go to a small private school. I’m applying as a junior with a 3.8 gpa, some ECs and work nearly full time. I have heard literally nothing from them and am getting concerned.

Do they release decisions on weekends too? Or only weekdays?

@ForeverGymnast21 I’m the same… I don’t expect to be accepted to Marshall, but I am waiting for Dornslife (Econ) :frowning:

@transfersc most of the acceptances will be from community college transfers usc has a great track record with them - private school applicants get accepted too but not the majority if you look at the past history overall - you have a good gpa depending on what major you are applying to and how many credits transfer over you should be fine we have a couple of weeks to hear good news still.

Is it true that if someone in same school with same major got accepted and if you are not getting any result leads to rejection??? Just curious about this thing.

I’m just going to self quote myself from a few pages back.

"If someone could ease my thoughts that would be great,

So I submitted my common app before the Feb 1st deadline and had requested a fee waiver for the app fee. Yet I had not heard anything from my counselor at CC about the fee waiver. I have met with him several times this semester but I keep forgetting to bring it up. So I just decided to pay the fee right now, and my question is: Does paying the fee this long after the Feb 1st deadline affect me in anyway?"

Anyone have any insight on this? USC has had my common app and writing supplement ever since I submitted it and I never got a request to pay the fee. So I did it because I never heard an update about the waiver.

Edit: I’d call the admission’s office but they aren’t open and I was at a UCI event yesterday :expressionless:

@mochibbycake @davey310 I’m hoping that if I got rejected from Marshall I would be accepted as undeclared, I know that happened to a few applicants last year. Fingers crossed for us!!!

@LuckyNumberSe7en I wish I could help but I have no clue! Your best bet is to email or call admissions! I would email today and then call on Monday when they are open. Sorry I couldn’t be much help!

@TonyStark93I from the orientation checklist:

All majors below require a placement test “regardless of previous course work or AP/IB scores”. All majors listed need math placement, the majors with * need the chemistry placement.

Architecture
Astronomy*
Biological Sciences*
Biochemistry*
Business
Chemistry*
Computer Science*
Earth Science*
Economics
Education
Engineering (all majors)*
Environmental Sciences*
Global Economy
Global Health*
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention*
Human Biology*
International Relations

Do transfer applicant need placement test?? It doesn’t make sense to me since courses taken before usc are equivalent to some usc courses( CC have articulation
