Official USC 2015 Transfer Thread

Hey guys!

HS GPA: None, GED!
College: CCC
GPA: 4.0
Essays: Not the best.
ECs: This is probably my strongest category: communication internship, past honor society board member, non-profit media coordinator, over 200 hours of community service, five awards/scholarships, lots of involvement on campus
Major: Communication
SAT/ACT: None
Letters of rec: My communication teacher who got his… masters? at USC, the leader of one of my school programs and the president of my CCC. (I submitted three)
Requirements: All but language. (Only did one semester.)

I’ve also gotten into Berkeley, UCLA, UCSB, UCSD, Chapman and NYU. All for Communication Studies besides Berkeley (Media Studies.)

I’m thinking I’ll go to UCLA (w/ Alumni Scholarship) unless I get any huge scholarships from USC or NYU. (Haven’t gotten aid packages yet)

Also, thank you for the congrats! I got you all get in too! :slight_smile:

Hey guys, no specific question here, but I need to vent…and would appreciate it if you guys could tell me if I should be hopeful at all (not exactly “chancing me”)
I don’t know how many of you are aware of this, but USC is not need-blind for international students, which means the amount of financial aid we need affects our admission decision.
Now, unfortunately, I’d need something close to %100 financial aid (heh). There is also a financial statement form that’s required for us international students. I couldn’t fill out the form (obviously), so I called my counselor and she waived it for me. But I asked if that would affect my admission, and she said “of course, since it’s required.”
So…should I even be hopeful this week? What do you think…? (I’m a Dornsife/Middle Eastern Studies applicant.) FYI, I am from the Middle East… :slight_smile:

Anyone? :’(

@chunkymonkey29 I’m still waiting!! Haha

Has anyone sent their grades in for the SGR and heard back?

anyone heard from sol price?

Still waiting too :frowning: @chunkymonkey29

Any Dornsife applicants hear back yet? Any neuroscience majors?

@YoGabbaGabby96 @nicoley125 I’m a Dornisfe applicant who got SGR’d 4/28. Spring grades were sent in and were confirmed that they were received. I emailed my admissions counselor on when I should get a decision and she said sometime this week, instead of July.

@1hellohello1 @ForeverGymnast21 This wait has got me on edge…are we like the only three who haven’t heard back from Marshall? HAHA

@emwrbrtn do you think it’s a bad sign I haven’t heard anything yet since you got yours so early?

@nicoley125 I don’t think so. I got a SGR because I’m a sophomore applicant, and I think they just didn’t have enough credits to base my decision off of. Are you a junior applicant? Because I think its less common to get an SGR as a junior.

@emwrbrtn yeah I am a junior applicant and was just curious if anyone heard admission decisions from dornsife yet. Everyone was talking about the other schools and I’m wondering if hearing back so late and close to their deadline is a good or bad sign.

@chunkymonkey29 I have no idea what to even think anymore. I stopped checking youSC as much because it’s just driving me crazy. It’s almost June 1st so I’m just hoping for the best, but I’ve also prepared myself for the worst.

@chunkymonkey29 @ForeverGymnast21
Make that four people waiting for Marshall…
Plus it’s finals week this coming week for me fml how am I going to concentrate

@emwrbrtn did you get the email confirmation? I got that for my unofficial grades, but on you.sc it still says they need my official.

@shortstop3 Im pretty sure I read somewhere that unofficial transcripts are okay, but you will be required to show an official transcript when they accept you.

@jucery13 Right, I sent my official in about a week and a half ago and it’s still listed as a document that they need on the you.sc page. Guess I’ll e-mail my counselor tomorrow.

@Shortstop3 I sent my official transcript a week and a half ago as well and my you.usc.edu page has not updated yet either. I emailed my counselor about it on Saturday and am hoping for a response on Tuesday. Do you think you sent your transcripts to the wrong address? Because I have a feeling that that might be the reason for me.
