@jucery13 it had the same two paragraphs and the last one was along the lines of “transfer merit scholarships will be awarded in early may.” In place of the quoted bit, it now says the 3-5 days. Just sounds like a generic update in my opinion. I hope were all in but let’s just wait it out!
@jucery13 Yeah, I just saw it today after midnight. I guess it’s not as definitive as getting an email asking you to check your financial aid and getting an acceptance letter the same day
So maybe it is nothing =\ I want to think I’m in, but it’s just so late for me to believe that at this point
Yeah, I’m a dude. so no bads there. That’s what I talked about in my essays. Maybe they didn’t like that
and I think my anthropology professor never sent in my letter, so that wasn’t good since she was my only LOR.
Good luck everyone. Check your mailboxes! Remember that the portal can take 24-48 hours to update after the date of your acceptance letter.
@kawaiiharu Hi Haru! I know what you mean about waiting
Last year, I got a spring grade request toward the end of May and had to wait all the way until July 15th to learn my fate. I then went for an appeal an and didn’t learn what came of that until July 31st. I’m not sure why USC can sometimes have such a wait - I guess they just take longer with certain people.
Thank you for replying my message!!!
Are you waiting for the decision after your SGR this time?
And you were rejected last year even though you got SGRed last year?
P.S. I’m wondering whether I should call my counsellor
I did send email to her but she never answer back
@zettasyntax I forget to quote you out hahaha
This is so mean. They should send out rejections first! If you don’t want us at least do not kill us with waiting!!!
The reason why they took down the merit scholarship message and replaced it with a “3-5 business day” message is probably because merit scholarships had already been given out.
Yeah I think so too! @RAHforHEE I remember calling the counselor and he told me that there are only so many merit scholarship given out each year. And there is a chance that people who do not get an admission decision by the end of May or June 1st not getting the scholarship. WHICH IS TOTAL BS. It is not my fault that you did not admit me earlier.
And I do not qualify for need based. I was looking forward for this scholarship if I do get admitted. Anyway it is what it is
@jasmine2468 Sorry to hear that. I knew I wasn’t going to qualify for a merit scholarship because my GPA was way too low. I’m just happy they accepted me, lol.
But I do agree their admissions process seems to be all over the place. Maybe that’s just what we think, though.
@jasmine2468 It sucks but at the same time I can kinda understand where they’re coming from. Typically those that get a final decision early in May are the most competitive applicants or the ones that had their prereqs done.
Hi! I just got rejected. So heart broken. USC is my dream school. I just could hardly accept the fact. Can I appeal after getting rejected? I know some USC freshman applicants send the appeal letter and successfully get in. Is it also true for transfer students? I really hope that I can do everything I can in order to get in!
Is there anyone who is also thinking about appealling?
Or anyone who knows anything about appeal for admission or has previously appealed successfully? Is there any news about appealing in the last year’s thread?
Thank you!
Big congs to all people to get in and good luck to people who are still waiting!
My stars report just got filled out on Oasis! I hope you guys are right in that this means acceptance. It says that I got my second choice major as undecided but I’m not complaining. I’ll keep you all updated if I get an acceptance letter in the near future!
Hi guys I have already been rejected but I just want to add that I don’t believe counsellors have much of anything to do with the decisions in admission. I sent my unofficial transcript to my counsellor Friday may 29, and today he responded saying I would receive my decision soon, even though I had already been rejeceted dated to May 27th!
I got admitted on May 1st and still haven’t heard anything regarding a transfer merit scholarship…oh well, guess I didn’t get one. Kind of frustrating though that on their website it says recipients had “an average GPA above 3.7 and had more than 30 transferrable credits at the time their applications were submitted”. I had 49 completed credits back in February and had a GPA of 3.91.
Has anyone been rejected yet who received an SGR?
@kawaiiharu I didn’t get an SGR this application cycle, but I guess that’s also a possibility if I don’t get the rejection I’m expecting later today. Last year, I was indeed rejected after my SGR. Has it been more than a couple of days? I would definitely email her if you still have some concerns. I sometimes have to email my counselor twice - I just like to get confirmation that they received documents and stuff
@AthenianSC Yes, you can appeal like a freshman applicant can. I don’t believe there’s a set process for it though. I believe you can either write a letter and mail it in or type it up and send it to your admissions counselor. I appealed last year and got a decision about 2 weeks afterwards. I recall one applicant got in on appeal last year and that there was a whole thread about it, but not many others had good luck - I didn’t have good luck either
Is anyone looking for a roommate? I’m a male sophomore Viterbi transfer looking at Troy Hall/East, Webb, and Parkside mainly.
Question: It would seem counterproductive to send out SGRs to people that USC would reject right? I mean, I got a SGR in the beginning of May and just submitted my transcripts last week, and I was certain I would’ve been rejected last month because my essay really sucked, but I guess not? I ended my freshman year with a 3.92, and took 20 units (6 classes) my spring semester. So in all likelihood, wouldn’t they have rejected me in the first place rather than send me a SGR if they didn’t want me?
